Are existing sites with traffic the better route to go?

Whats the traffic amount that would interest one to buy?

Links?

Should I only buy one that has links?

No. As a general rule links are bad for the internet and kill conversions.

Alright, I was being a smart ass. It sounds like you need to spend a little more time on homework before going either route. There isn't a better way to go.

You need to understand what to look for when buying a website, what makes a successful website, and how to run and market one before you get too serious.

Do you even know what type of website you'd like to own, or are you just looking for anything with revenue?

My purpose is revenue.

build your own site first to learn some sh*t. then once you know how to run a profitable site, go buy some more.

It's pretty hard to buy a decent site these days. It's mostly crap out there now. A few years ago there was a lot more quality stuff but now decent sites for decent prices are a true rarity...

That being said, unless you have enough money to start approaching sites and offering them large amounts of money they can't refuse, you're probably better off building your own site.

Now, that isn't to say you can't hire others to build it for you.. but that's a whole other thread.
