I want to buy a domain but it's already owned by someone. She/He isn't using the site (it's parked by GoDaddy). How do I contact him/her to make them an offer? Also, how much should the offer be? (It's 3 consonants). Thanks!

Look up the domain name in the whois database and email or call the admin contact.

How much do you want to pay for it? Offer less than that to start out. PM me the url and i'll take a look at it ;)

Be forewarned that most people selling domains that are 99% crap or less are going to want $500-$5000 for it and more if the name is decent. A three consonant .com is going to be pricey.

i was into domianing a couple years ago and 3 letter .coms were going for 100K or more. Probobly even more now

Haha, to clarify my post. There were 3 ideas in it that kind of meshed into one unclear statement.

crap for domains: ihadhotsexwithyourmomlastnightonthecouchinthefamilyroom.com = $0

decent domains: retirementguide.com, CITYNAMEusedcars.com = $500-$5000 - maybe more if it is a developed site

great domains: stk.com, money.com, etc = $$$$

As a guide kxr.com and mje.com are currently going in private auctions on Snapnames.

kxr.com is currently at $6400 with one day to go.

mje.com is currently at $7,700 with two days left.

This is the second time mje.com has been auctioned - the first time (a couple of weeks ago) the final bid was $17,200 but I would guess the winner failed to pay. Wouldnt be surprised if it goes for a similar amount this time around.

Just so you don't overpay because of what gdubs said, I'm currently a domainer and 3 character .COM's vary wildly in price. LLL.com is usually the most sought after although some NNN.com's (like 777.com) are also very valuable. If you are looking at something like 7k2.com though, the value is significantly decreased. Shop around and expect to pay several thousands for most names, but make sure that you don't make a crazy high offer to start with. You can always negotiate up from a lower number.

yeah, sorry maybe i dont know what im talking about. I couldve sworn they were that expensive, but i guess not.
