Buying A Private Island

I have a mate who owns a few islands (no joke).. and they have a lot issues with getting fresh water and diesel for power generation.

Islands are pretty freaking cool.. but as soon as you set foot on one you just realise your on a piece of land that no-one can get to / sustainably live on.

An island is definitely not a sound alternative to buying a house... Even if it is cheap

So much for the alternate energy folks. Most islands should have a fair amount of wind.

You can always treat the septic effluent and re-use for bathing......... if using an ATU system.

This guy is making power and fresh water simultaneously

Not all islands are sea ones. Having an island on a large lake or river delta will solve the problem with water and food.
The legal issues can be pain though. I know from experience...

some peoples knowledge of basic things like home waste management still amaze me lol. Wow I updated my password for that...

You can easily pull 30+amps of power off 10 feet of panels right now that with a 50-100amp wind generator and you aren't going to have power issues. That long with an inverter and some big ass golf cart or deep cycle batteries you would be just fine. Satellite phones are like $50, throw in an epirb incase a hurricane hits.. obviously keep a boat on the calm side of the island with a backup skiff that does not need to be moared. could live there forever. As high or as low end as you want.
