Campbell's Soup sued for False Advertising

I remember hearing about the "less sodium" being false at least last year.

Good to know our government takes false advertising so seriously that it gives businesses a few years to profit off of it before launching a settlement for part of the profits.

Govt. tends to not be overly zealous when there is no monetary incentive for them.

What's bigger 'extra large, jumbo or colossal'?

Pricks have been misleading Forever. It's the main reason people don't trust your ads. Because the biggest players have been doing shit like this since the first TV was plugged in.

Government is all about power. Money can be made in the private sector. Power only exists where there is a monopoly on authority and force.

reminds me of a news story I saw a couple years ago where they tested all the different cold/pain/flu medicines by brands like tylenol, advil, etc. and they found that they were all the same, no difference between the pain or the cold or the flu versions.

"One more time: Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do it."

uh- actually you need to weigh the cost:benefit of their claims selling X% more soup than normal and thus boosting bottom line by Y% and $Z versus the total cost of defense in the suit.

I wouldn't be surprised if, even with this case of AMBULANCE CHASING ATTORNEYS going after them the upside still greatly outweighs the downside.

The food industry is notorious for these bullshit lies on products. Sugar cereal isn't healthy, low-fat means you'll still get fat, "natural" flavors so on and so forth.
