Is it legal to quote what someone said to you without their permission and put it on a website with their names?

I think it is as long as I disclose the fact that they are Not endorsing my service.

Two of these dudes are very well known in this particular industry and could lend weight to my site.

Oh yeah, and they did really say what I'm thinking of putting online.

(Usually) with proper attribution it's ok, so long as you don't do anything to indicate that they are associated with you, support whatever you are selling, etc. Also, the quote should be complete, don't edit it or change it to anything other than exactly what they said. Every case is different, tread carefully

And, as always, if they have any issues with you using their quote, take it down immediately.

Honestly; No I dont think I would, as I stated In my post. But I wasn't sure. I figured some people here have been down that path already.

And while I'm Not a baller, I'm also Not a 15 year old in my mom's basement.
 
Shoot them a PM or E-mail and ask. There is the general saying, "It's better to do it an apologize later than to ask and be told no," but that really doesn't apply here considering that you could be burning bridges with them. If they are such big names in the industry as you say, then they'll have more credibility and financial backing than you.

But yeah, every case is different. If they said it in a public forum or on a website, then you can quote without having to ask as it's already been disclosed publicly. But if they said to you in private, then ask.
 
i think its alright to do that if it is a good thing he/she said to you. as all of you know that hearing and spreading a good thing is virtue.
