It is a complicated subject. It really depends on who it is. It is certainly more risky than registering cerealreview.com or something like that and review cereal there.
They could sue you. They could take you into the cybersquatter process. They could go after your hosting provider to turn it off.
Some fan sites and news sites get left alone. There is also fair use of image issues. If you just use pictures from the web of other photographs you are risking lawsuits there as well.
You could use anonymous registar on the domain and fairly tough hosting like Canadian or offshore or something.
But registering these types of domains is a lot of work that could get stolen at anytime.

Yea I hear ya. I was thinking about the image thing. This is tough but the keywords I want to use is $43.22 CPC and If I register a cheapo domain the worst that can happen is its taken down or Im sued right?

Yes, but you do realize that there is a world of difference between having your site taken down and getting sued, right? Most companies would simply send out a Cease & Desist order before taking you to court, and that's easy to comply with (i.e. take the site down and give up the domain name,) but if someone wants to sue you, that's a pain in the ass.
If you're going to put money into the site, I highly suggest leaving out trademarked terms.
If anything I will be helping them get business. Im going to just keep it informative and give all positive content. Kinda like

are you sure that is the real CPC because I saw on your other thread you have been using phrase search so you might want to go back and check that figure when you do exact search and see what the CPC and the amount of searches is then.

Wow! I have learned so much from this thread. I actually did not think you can be sued for using a domain name like that. Especially if the content you are putting up is not negative or illegal.

Use generic words rather than brand names, and do a trademark search on any domains you plan to use. That's the easiest way to stay out of trouble.

I think it would have been better to 301 to a new domain, new logo, content that doesn't piss them off...etc
No you really can't. If the company doesn't like it they can take it eventually. There's a ton of factors and a few are: You can't use the company name plus write about the products the company sells or try to sell them yourself. You cannot write about negative things about the company that would hurt their reputation. You CAN open it if it's your last name, and blog about life, etc. BUT if the company was established before you were born they can take it.. Also you have to update it, or you're squatting on the domain should they ever want it. There's really a ton of ways for them to take it. It's just not worth it, unless you're going to use it for six months or less and then abandon it.
