I want to setup an adult web directory. Perhaps you could help me with some stuff....... therefor I could offer you a premium link after setup is complete.

1) Domain - accomplished

2) Registrar - half way accomplished, I chose moniker, since here at WF some people favored moniker over godaddy. I want to use domain privacy. Is that enough security? Or could someone in US come and ask them for my adress, cause you can see pussies on the site Or because the site links to pussysites. I am based in Germany. Here you need a real complicated adult check..... to complicated for a directory.

3) Web hoster - can you recommend one? Someone here said, NEVER ever have domain and data with the same company. Why is that so?

4) Categories - What categories can you think of?
sex shop, dating, amateur, fetish, teens, gay, lesbian, webmaster, video&dvd, models, private pages, blogs, thumbnail galleries
(i guess it wont make sense to seperate between some body parts, cause on most pages you see everything :D )

5) Software - accomplished, I chose PHP LinkDirectory v3.2

6) Any additional features needed in a adult web directory?

For the hosting, the reason they say never have the domain / hosting with the same company is because if you switch hosting companies, the domain registrar company will sometimes snatch your domain due to you "leaving the company"

Just be smart. :)

...could happen when you get a free domain registration with a hosting package and they would register the domain under their company name.
Other then that you would need to be with a real shady registrar will they pull that one you.

Use an ICANN accredited registrar and if taking advantage of a promotion make sure the domain is registered under your name Firewire
Moniker would be an excellent choice.

Moniker is great, using them for many domains, they have reasonable pricing (as low as $6.95 for a .com without privacy service) and offer a great service.

Domain privacy is pretty secure. They'll never give anyone your address if you are running a legal adult site, but there is something called domain history and your real contact data MAY appear there...so it's secure, but not 100%.

You are setting up a web directory? Not a TGP or MGP?

My recommendation would be: get familiar with the online adult industry first. Learn what TGP, MGP, TGP2, Hosted Galleries, etc are. Learn how to create galleries that convert. Spend some time submitting to the TGPs and MGPs. Learn what it takes to get listed on places like theHun.net. Learn how to create and run your own TGP / MGP.

Once you have at least a basic grasp of all that (and more) then decide if you want to run an adult web directory or something else.
