Ohhh, come on. Realistically, what is Iran going to do? Start a nuke throwing contest with the US and Israel? Gee, I wonder who would win that one.
Not to mention, look at the US military bases surrounding Iran:
One false move, and their government is toppled within weeks. If Iran tried anything, especially something against Israel, they'd have such a wrath of fiery brought onto them, it'd make the shock & awe campaign in Baghdad look like a one-man firework's show. They know this, and aren't about to do anything stupid.
Then Saudi Arabia should be the first target.
Saudi has the most radical of all Islam and they have a dictatorship (no democracy - period) compared to Iran that has a progressive Islam and Democracy (ok, their own way of democracy ... still people are able to choose)..
Yep, along with Oman, Yemen, Qatar, UAE. These countries make up the majority of the last remaining feudal monarchies on earth. They're about three hundred years behind the times. And they're all relics of the British Arab desk.
Why do these muthafuckas guarantee spots on their parliament to Jews and Christians? Why do these muthafuckas allow over 600 Christian churches and dozens of Jewish synagogues to exist in their country?

I'd have to be a total redneck (which i'm not, only a little bit) to not realize that these people are highly developed, highly educated, modernized, cultured, complex people.
Their leadership however... Unfortunately more moderates like musavi can't push their way in to the top, we all saw how that went in 2009.
I'll say it again, I have a deep respect for eastern culture. Persian, Arab, Moslem, etc. But there is a cancer in that culture which not only plagues its own people but is a serious danger to us an our friends. Our friends are israelis and all peace loving people of the middle east.
Does Iran as a state hate jews? no. Jews live peacefully
in Iran, although as a jew I wouldn't want to end up in the wrong neighbourhood or at the wrong political rally that's for sure. Irans problem is with israel, an their support of hamas and hezbolla is what is truly worrying.
I think most modernized Iranians despise their theocratic
government. I remember Chris Hitchens talking about being in Iran with some friends of his trying to attend a death to israel/america rally and they were advised to dress down for the part, not shave, etc... he said they couldnt even get picked up ina cab, they got berate for looking like terrorists, and he wouldnt be surprised if they had been spat on.
He said the raly reminded him o what it must have been like to attend a fascisy rally. Young resentful mem who probably couldnt get a date and just needed somewhere to belong, being manipulated and whipped up into a frenzy and bein told they are special and tey had a mission, o and heres a gun and a uniform.
Unfortunately its the brutes, thugs, and extemists who push others around and often set the course of history.
I feel truly sorry that good peace loving iranian people, our true friends, may be caught in teh middle of a necessary conflict.

maybe You are all right. I am not ignorant enough to think I am right and see the whole picture.
I am putting forth an argument, and one that I think deserves serious consideration lest we make a serious mistake. I think any course we take has the potential to resuly in a serious mistake.
But I also know that our western sensibilities can cloud our better judgement sometimes. Ans I think we often prefer to see much of the middle east through rose tinted glasses. But it's only half the picture.

An even scarrier is the thought of what it could become. Maybe Iran is not as bad as it CoULD be right now. But what if the next ayatolla is even more radical? What if even more radicalized elements from the countryside continue to gain strength in the government?
I ask myself the same questions about the orthodox parties gaining power and momentum in Israel too, and i think we need to be taking a much tougher stance on Israel as well.
