Canada.

Q4FT... Although snob as shit, and good luck if you don't speak French.

Meh, I've seen worse. Been in California for the last few years, and the women here are horrible. They seem to believe that they are all celebrities simply because they live in California.. "oh my gawd I'm a cali girl" lol fags

Plus, hot girls are usually stuck up :p

And true, French is necessary. I mean, you can get by for a while without it, but not for long. Rosetta Stone time

Crime: Meh, I lived in what toronto would call a ghetto area most of my childhood (Scarbronx) and got to see/do a lot first hand but it's NOTHING compared to the states/other parts of the world. Our ghetto's aren't typically ghetto's and we don't have race wars or class wars (perhaps in subtle ways but that's it).

As a Blue Jays fan, I remember when we acquired Dave Stewart from the Oakland A's. Stewart wanted to maintain his yearly tradition of going out in to the community on Thanksgiving (got to do it a month earlier up here) and helping the less fortunate. He specifically asked to go to the Ghettos and the Poverty stricken areas. I still remember seeng footage of him at a townhouse complex at Jane & Finch and the look on his face saying 'This is the ghetto?'

I'm also from Scarborough. Where did you used to live? McCowan & Lawrence here.

Vancouver FTW. But like the other guys have said, you have to make enough money to actually enjoy what we have to offer. I'd aim for minimum $50k/year, otherwise, you're better off somewhere else where living costs aren't so high.

And it's not that cold here, it's quite temperate... summers don't get hot, winter's don't get cold. You have to be able to deal w/ grey skies and rain though.. but that just makes the sunny days that much better. You can snowboard, hike, shop downtown, eat at a nice restaurant and end your day at the beach, all in 1 day b/c that's how diverse Vancouver can be.

Health care is good, I don't get sick that much but it's nice going into a Doc/Dentist and not needing to pay. All my hospital visits were pretty smooth too, no horror stories from me.

++ Food is incredible here due to the diverse population
+ Women are beautiful but a little on the unfriendly side. But if you know what you're doing, it takes all of 5 mins to break down those barriers.

Vancouver has some of the ugliest beach i've ever seen and they all stink. Keep in mind im a little biased on that because I love the tropics.

As for the 50k/year. try doubling that if you want to live well and enjoy life.. eat out a lot, etc. Your rent alone is gonna be $1,500 - $2,500 for something decent thats not located in shithole like surrey.. lets run some #'s

$50k/year is only $$4,166/month.

Rent: $1,700
Car insurance $150
Car payment: $400
Gas: $200

Food (groceries) $500
Eating out: $400

Cell phone: $150
Internet + cable: $100
Anything else I forgot: $300

This of course doesn't include booze, weed or $11 packs of smokes.

= $3,900

All of a sudden that $4,166/mo doesnt get you very far and you're lucky to get a vacation once a year.. I know you said 50k/min.. but still, just throwing that out there.

You know, Texas can still legally secede with out US Military intervention. We recently funded our own Navy. True story

Can't beat Montreal in that aspect though.

Montreal has always been ranked as one of the best party spots in the world...

Bars/Clubs close later than anywhere else in Canada, plus there's a plethora of Afterhour clubs that open from 3AM to 12PM the next day that attract some of the best DJs in the world.

However... no jobs and ass-raping taxes.

Yep, I've been snowboarding at Mt.St.Anne a few times and we ripped up the clubs and pubs pretty good. I used to be a raver when I was younger so get me drunk/red and I'm a dancing nut, so we were at one of the popular bars and I'm losin' it on the floor, a hottie walks up and asks if we want to hit the rave/after hours, and hands me pills - I grab a few dudes and we go party 'till the next afternoon. Fucked our snowboarding right up but was well worth it (wow nostalgic memories from doing dumb shit as a youngen).

Also noticed all the bars we went to were majority biker ran/owned, got intimidating a few times but over all wicked experience every time I go (sans my French sucking and getting laughed at lol).

LOL. I'm at Jane and Dundas right now - I spent 20+ years at Markham+Eglinton (Cougar Court), a few years at Kennedy+Eglinton, a few years at McCowan+16th, a few years at Finch/404 area, and a few short stints where it was a few months in random spots. If we're in the same age group (I'm 1978) then I use to throw jams under Addictive Ent., BlastOffPromotions, and did a lot of the clubs downtown in my teens/early 20's with a good crew from Wexford Collegiate (my HS), Thompson, Bendale, and Churchill - was my bread and butter back then and my buddy/old partner still does the shit (owns his own bars/clubs now though).

Crime where I'm at right now includes my slade getting broken into a few times (even the lil' crooks are nice here as they keep leaving my shit in lil' piles, and I keep leaving $5/$10 in my console so they don't fuck up my truck finding nothing - or they are G checking me/gangs here are real but still nothing like the states).

My old man lived in Sarasota for a while, and when I visited him for a few summers it was a real eye opener re the difference in day to day living (Sarasota is like retirement village but still saw 'nuff shit).

Truth, have a few friends that live there and they do well but constantly tell me how crazy the cost of life there is, especially in VanCity.

That's assuming we're talking about 50k NET.

Because a 50k/year salary is like 35k left in your pockets so like $2916 a month.

Vancouver's got some nice beaches. You probably never visited Wreck Beach at UBC, naked chicks all around. Definitely got the upper hand compared to Victoria. Everyone that I've talked to has nothing but bad things to say about Victoria, except..the ones that wanna retire.

Rent would be <$1500, unless you are looking for a condo with 2 bedrooms around 1300 square feet. And it is not mandatory to have a car in Vancouver, the public transportation is extremely convenient. Skytrain can get you anywhere in greater vancouver within 30 minutes. And if you live downtown, everything you need is within walking distance.

LOL. Ok I'm 1977 and went to Thomson. You mentioned Blastoffpromotions. Time to PM ya!

I'm from Burnaby but lived for quite a few years in Victoria as well. I prefer Vancouver over Vic any day.. so im not disagreeing with you there.

But Wreck beach at UBC? Really dude? Isn't that where all the 50 year olds go hangout naked together?

Rent would not be <$1,500. I'm talking about getting something nice, and large. Not a 500 sq foot 1 BR/1 BA apartment.. If you want a house, if I remember correctly it was like $2,000+ a fucking month..

And public transportation? Lets be honest, nobody wants to take the bus/skytrain everywhere. At least I dont.

Victoria / Montreal = flooded with hipsters. Avoid if you're not the type to buy a 6$ coffee and sit at Starbucks with your Macbook for 2 hours while scoping out the newest "unknown" bands.

Why do you have to be downtown in the seedy places and at the hipster hangouts?

I live on top of a mountain far away from the bullshit in my own little word and there is nothing like it. I think it snowed twice this year...

and because no one here knows how to drive, we all get days off work when there is 2cm of snow

I only mentioned that because I heard Canada has very high taxes and that I am OK with paying 30-35%. I don't worry about paying my taxes.. I mean I am not exactly looking for a Tax Haven..

Hmmmm.... Kelowna BC is the place to be. Set yourself up right and taxes are not a problem. Corporations pay just 17% tax on the first $300,000 and as long as you only pay yourself in dividends for personal cash, say $35,000 or $70,000 per couple then that is all tax free. If you are over the $300 k per year mark then set up a second corp in Belize for that.

Downtown ain't too bad here in victoria anyway and there are an insane amount of girls. You and I must be the only two here in Vic?

I lived in Vic. Just left in December and moved to Mexico (Cabo). Adam Steele is from Vic as well but now lives in Vancouver I believe.

Haha, when I go in the summer I see a ton of Australians and university students. I could be wrong. But 500 sq foot 1 BR is definitely not $1500.

lol, it's kinda true. I grew up in SoCal and when I was a kid it wasn't like that. But by the time I was in my 20's it changed. The problem is that so many people in SoCal came from flyover country and think they are now living in some kind of Bay Watch episode. The few SoCal natives I know aren't like that at all since it is just normal to them to be from/live in that area.

BA #1 :error:

Amsterdam not even included?

London not included?

Tokyo not included?

then barcelona, sydney, paris, LA, miami

that list is just lol...

my choice would be Europe - The Netherlands/Belgium/Luxemburg/Switzerland//Denmark/Austria.

Crime rates aren't even comperable to the US. Education is like 4x-5x better. Fucking hot women. You are at the center of Europe and can travel all over the place. Except in Austria virtually everyone speaks English pretty well. But you'll be fine in Austria too. In the Netherlands people will talk to you only in English if you aren't dutch.

Outdoors in those countries is fucking awesome. Lot's of culture activity too. Not the absoulute top nightlife except in the The Netherlands which IMO is the best clubbing place in the world. But you'll be fine in the other countries too. oh... and did i mention FUCKING HOT WOMEN?

If you're actually going to move to Canada, forget about places like Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, etc... Move to somewhere good, like Banff:

Grab yourself a season ski pass at one of the three mountains that are in your backyard, bust your ass working, and take 2 or 3 days a week off to ski the hills. Great life! :)

Best part is, it's no more expensive than living in downtown Vancouver, and if anything, probably cheaper.
