Another technical masterpiece from Floyd, but god what a boring ass fight. I long for the days when great fighters didn't just want to win, but to hold up their opponents severed heads in their raised arms.
In the last two rounds there was absolutely no reason for Canelo to not turn into a brawler, try to get Floyd to square up, and then go for the knockout. At that point who cares if you risk getting knocked out if your purpose is to win. That was his only hope of winning at that point (and really way earlier than those rounds). But a loss by decision doesn't look as bad on the record as a knockout, and that translates into better money his next fight out.
Can't blame him for not going for it, but it sure as hell doesn't make for great entertainment.
