Hi guys,

I know this is a first post... so let me just say I love the forum.

Anyway... there seem to be a lot of you on here who know what you're doing... and I could use some help.

You see... up til now... I've basically made my living as a copywriter.

And while the pay isn't bad... I'd really like to start promoting some stuff of my own.

Now... I know this isn't a product owner's forum... and I know a lot of you are against ClickBank and ebooks in general (or at least seem to be).

But I didn't know where else to ask this question (and actually get a decent response). If you know of any places... feel free to let me know if this isn't the right spot.

Now... for the details.

I've got an ebook on how guys can be good in bed that I'm trying to promote. The copy seems pretty tight... but my traffic isn't converting.

How do I know it's the traffic?

Because I've sent the same traffic to several different offers that seem to be doing quite well (I sent the traffic as an affiliate, obviously) and it's converting just as poorly as mine (slightly worse, actually).

I sent traffic two ways:

1. Adwords
2. Articles

With Adwords I used KWs like:

how to make a woman orgasm
how to give a woman an orgasm
how to give women great orgasms

...you get the idea.

The articles targeted similar keywords but of course instead of going straight to the merchant page they "pre sold".

I also tried sending traffic to a landing page to capture emails - that converted at a horribly low 12.3%.

In each of these cases I have had about 1000 visitors... which should be enough to establish a baseline.

So... I'm guessing my traffic's the problem... but I don't know where I'm going wrong.

If any one has any suggestions... I'd be very appreciative.

-Dan

P.S. Almost forgot...

Probably guys looking for free info?

Your lander needs work for lead capture. Try giving the user an incentive. "I will reveal to you one technique that will surely make her scream. Just type in your email and first name to receive it."

Or if you have enuf time on your hands, do some kind of auto responder sequence, and then do a soft sell at the end of the article.

Go opt-in David Deangelo's newsletter for an example.

Deangelos autoresponder sequence is the shit...lots of content but good sales pitches too

Sexual related niches may not be the best area to start in. Highly competitive for the high demand of traffic. Men searching for such information would be able to find all the answers they need for free on page 1 of search engine results from reputable websites. Now im not saying it isnt possible for you to see some success but it will be a struggle from your position.

Maybe try re-evaluating your keywords and who exactly you are targeting. If your copy is tight but your visits aren't converting, you might be targeting the wrong audience.

Check out your keywords and test some new ones until you find a group that works.

Notice anything wrong with the image below?

Typically if a keyword you're thinking of bidding on has ZERO ads, chances are it's not profitable. This is not always the case but it's a good indicator if there's money to be made or not. With an evergreen topic such as this (sex) you can be damn sure that many have tried and failed on this KW.

What to do?

1) Try other keywords where there are plenty of ads

or better still...

2) Bid on your competitor's brand names. Those are your hottest prospects. If your copy is tight, make them a better offer and close the sale.
