Yawn - yeah I know... yet another Tesla thread, but you to give credit where it's due - they're certainly getting they're shit together when it comes to implementing their designs.

I like what Elon Musk is doing. Both in business terms & advancement of & investment in tech.

The dual electric motors look impressive. 100% Torque from 0 RPMs, finally showing what is really possible.

The P85D is a production car, supposed to start delivering in December.

ah ok, on quick google search, it's like $120k... with Tesla cars do you have to be in a city where they have charging stations for it to make sense to own one or do they have home kits that work well?

Ya, depending on options, $120-130k. They have home chargers and a pretty extensive supercharging network in the US and Europe. The stock is definitely full of hype, but I think the company is around to stay.

I'd agree. There's inevitably going to be a vast amount of hype - showcases like my OP pretty-much prove that, but the company are investing quite a bit in infrastructure. Musk has plans for a massive battery R&D + Manufacturing complex with other tech companies. Somewhere in Nevada is the chosen site:

Nevada Selected As Official Site for Tesla Battery Gigafactory | Press Releases | Tesla Motors

My gut instinct tells me this is a company that will last and that in 10 - 20 years one of their products will be on almost every street.

I'm guessing Tesla will license their autopilot technology to RV's and potentially big rigs. Anything that travels long distance is a perfect candidate.

Musk may end up being bigger than Steve Jobs when the history is written.
