I really, really, really dislike that picture you have on the facebook page. Reminds me of those shitty infomercials that make you feel horrible for not doing something. It gives off the wrong vibe. Other than that. Good luck. Also not liking, until you change picture.

I believe you could get kidnapped or worst chopped your head off this way. Developing countries can be a very dangerous place especially for novice travelers. There are places that are poor because some people keep it that way and you don't want to mess with them.

I think a lot of you are missing the point, this is basically for if you are already going somewhere and want to help out why you are there. This isn't for some yahoo to sign up and buy a ticket to some country they know nothing about.

I don't like the way the descriptions cut off mid-word. Maybe have custom excerpts, like wordpress? Also, maybe put what's needed up front, rather than making it so people have to scroll through the full description to find out.

You might want to relay to your friend that he should also be very careful about work permit immigration laws in various countries. I don't know about Costa Rica but in Thailand even volunteer work is considered work and you can be deported and fined for "working" while in Thailand without a work permit.

And, in Thailand, trust in projects like this is very low because so many people have used charities and volunteers for scams and-or commercial projects. I would imagine it's a very similar sort of thing in other developing countries.

That's not the worst part. Before you get deported you get a free stay at the immigration detention center in Bangkok which by all accounts is hell on earth. So yeah, be sure to check out the local laws before just assuming that you'll be fine because you have good intentions.
