Cheapest way to do Vegas? (ASW)

If you want the cheapest room on the strip and just want a place to crash in the middle of the action then check out the Imperial Palace

You can almost always get a room for <$90 on the weekend (weekdays is like $49)

Treasure Island and the Flamingo Go rooms are also decent choices for a cheap place in the middle of the strip where you can walk to the Wynn without needing a cab.
Oooh, very nice, works out for me only $56 a night :D You've just saved me $50 :D And yeah, I checked Treasure Island, but it works out as like $80 per night "/

cheapest way to do vegas?

Check out the Four Queens they have $29.00 rooms. Every rooms got a flatscreen TV and theyre pretty nice. It is on Fremont ST, which is the old vegas strip.. so you're gonna have to take a Taxi to the main strip for shows and shit, but hell - you're saving a bunch of money on reservations.. and hell, Fremont ST is pretty fun.

The western-most five blocks of Fremont Street are covered by a 90-foot high, barrel-vaulted canopy, housing 12.5 LED display units. Every hour beginning at dusk and lasting under after midnight, the canopy erupts in light and sound. It’s one of the most popular attractions in Las Vegas…and it’s free.
Awesome, cheers, I've come up with a plan based around that. Stay there on the night of the 8th, checkout the next day. Check in to Imperial Palace after that. Cause Four Queens is only $70 for the sunday night, whereas IP is like $140. After that, they're around the same, with IP being like $30 per night. Works out as ~$170, or £99. :D Cheers for that :D
lol @ bringing cubans with.

1. you're 17, you'll get busted for having tobacco

2. you're carrying contraband, and it'd get picked up in airport scanners.

good luck bros
Hopefully will be fine with the airport scanners, since it won't be in hand luggage, and it's not anything mega-illegal.
Good luck with a fake id in vegas. Only way it'll pass is if its a REAL ID of a friend that looks almost identical to you.
Will a real UK student ID work? I can get one of those.
There are no laws against tobacco possession in Nevada. Don't know about the legalities involved with treasonous Cuban cigars, though.

I second and third that, although to be completely accurate Fremont Street is located in downtown Las Vegas, not the Strip. If you want to do things really, really cheaply there's a bus that goes from d/t all the way up the Strip. I was in LV last January for Affiliate Summit, and stayed at the Sahara which is on the Strip (just barely). I used airline miles for my hotel stay.

The weather was really cold and there were buckets of rain, so if you're coming from the UK this is really not going to be a weather break in the sunshine for you.

Last year at the Rio was a bit rough for those of us not driving because it was so far off the Strip. The new location is definitely a plus.

I won't be going to LV this year (although shooting for ad Tech SF in April). Have fun with your hookers and blow. :rasta:
kk, cheers for that tip about the bus. :D

Ah well about the weather, it'd be nice to be sunny, but at least it's not anything I'm not used to :p

Thanks, will do :P
I forgot to add that most hotels charge extra for WiFi access, so if you rely on connectivity for your work, WiFi will be an extra expense. I connected at the Starbucks across the street from the Sahara on Paradise Avenue, and the big McDonald's on Las Vegas Boulevard had free WiFi as well (I think it was by the Riviera).

There are very few free amenities in Las Vegas, unfortunately.
Oh yeah, I saw that, although I'm not too worried about that, I'll tell all my clients I'm unavailable except by phone, and pause my aff campaigns for a week. It'll be good to have a break :)
I always take the bidding route on my hotels; 4 star and up. I've gotten 4* as low as $45 a night. See winning bids and do the same.

^ Don't forget to tell Shawn your name so you don't get ID asked for.
Hahahaha :D

Expedia hotel + flight works out cheaper than flight alone, so for him to go to a cheap hotel directly will end up costing more.

Oh btw, your real id - hows your DOB read? America does MM//DD/YYYY so you might come out as 18 :p
I dunno, it's worked out as about the same, and that's not like for like - the expedia deal is a shittier hotel.

And unfortunately, I was born on the 14th :P
jesus christ.

yes, they will chuck you out on the street without a second thought. billion dollar hotel/casinos aren't going to risk their licences so a 17 year old can spend $80 a night.

same will apply to any somewhat large club/bar you'll want to get in or get served at. no one is risking their liquor license so a 17 year old can buy a few beers and grope a stripper.

EDIT: don't mean to sound discouraging. but it's best you know what to expect. whenever i'd go to Montreal for the weekend at 17 i'd stay at a small b&b and pay off the bouncers or attempt to get by with my terrible fake idea. in vegas they're stricter than you'd ever believe. be prepared to be turned away from the clubs and casinos most will be at and have a plan and story line and actually practice it.

half the battle will be how you talk, act and dress.
Ah yeah, I didn't realise that was related to the gambling license. Ah well, hopefully it'll work.

And kk, yeah, I will :) And yeah, I'll try and dress older. I've been growing out some stubble as well for the past few months :p

And thanks for giving me honest advice; I'd prefer it to just saying "yeah you'll get in". :)
yeah exactly. they'll throw you out without thinking twice; they don't make their big profits on the hotel rooms, so throwing out some 17 year old is no big deal.
kk.

Always thought it was pointless to go to AS if you were not 21......
Fuck waiting 4 years.

costco for hard A, very cheap, then just walk around with a bottle/flask.... no need to buy drink anywhere.
Nice plan :D Will most places let you bring one in? Don't want to piss them off and make them even less likely to let me in. Do they pat you down when you go into clubs there?

Joe, heads up on being 17... I tried to go when I was your age also (now 19) but you gotta be 18 to attend. So hopefully a ) Shawn doesn't see this thread on ASW or b ) you figure out a way around it.
Yeah, I know, although fuck waiting 4 years. Cheers, I'll figure a way round it :D

Thanks for the help everyone :D I think I've got hotel sorted, now I'm just stuck on flights, the cheapest I've found is £475, by US Airlines. Any ideas on how to get there cheaper? I don't mind spending ages in a bus or whatever, or doing multiple stops. Btw, anyone got any Frequent Flier points they wanna sell?

Also, will a real UK student ID work (with photo)

One of these (picture off google, it'd be in a different name and have my photo on the back. It's a real student card, issued by the UK student's union.)

They won't take an NUS card, nowhere will haha. Most will either want a drivers license or passport.

Looks like they have your DOB on them too.

50,000 miles
GBP 240.90 Tax, Fees and surcharges

^^ for VS btw

Damn. Mind you, I know they wouldn't over here, but they may not know the UK system that well? Any Americans know? And yeah, it has DOB, but let's just say, it's possible for that to be, not entirely accurate ;)

And nice at that price, where's that from?

If they wouldn't take it in the UK what makes you think they would accept that in one of the most strict ID spots in the US?

Someone let this whoadi crash on your hotel floor before he goes through sucking some vegas pimp dick for a room.

Most places will want some sort of government issued type of ID, which usually comes down to the passport or drivers license.

The VS price was 50k miles and then the 240 was the tax and fees (bad deal though if you ask me, double the miles an you have a J ticket).

Maybe you should save the money and use it for one of the earlier EU conferences or adtech sfo for 2011?

I went to ad:tech, I feel ASW would be a lot better tbh. (Didn't I meet up with you there btw? :P )

They take it in some places. I dunno, I was hoping maybe they weren't too knowledgeable about UK IDs. Ah well, there's other routes :p

kk, I'll go with a drivers license. ahh about the flight. Mind you, still could be worth it if anyone has any airmiles?

And I could do, but this just sounds so much better! :p
