I'd be willing to bet on that. I constantly hear that blog networks are safe because google is a big machine and that they won't manually buy PBN posts because they're all about algorithm ...

Well, they might be, but that does not exclude humans being part of the algorithm. If i'd be google, i'd use automation to identify obviously SEO'd sites and then compare their backlink profiles against a sample of know "clean" sites to identify possible PBNs. Perhaps i 'd go even totally manual and have a couple of raters look at their links to compile lists of questionable domains. Even if they the biggest PBNs, it would have far reaching consequences if you take into account that people do not only use them on their money sites but also to boost their Tier 1.

Then, it would even be most cost effective to just BUY the damn posts. Google, like any other policing body, utilizes scare tactics and discouragemen and for that, even killing something that has worked well is a win, because less people keep trying, quit or turn to paid traffic. I'd get back into PPC as well if my margin was higher.

That being said: Yes, my sites which used PBNs got devalued. Bigger sites with mostly longtail traffic are not that affected yet...

Sorry but after awhile you get tired of these noob "seo experts", these morons really give the whole industry a bad wrap. These are the idiots that charge clients $1000/month and then over 6 months create 10 backlinks.. Or worse end up reselling cheap services and end up hurting the person's business.

As for the fact that he doesn't want to be called out for his "seo expert" status, and instead wants us to hug him, give him human contact and compassion. And tell him, everything will be alright son, go to bed, it's just a bad dream. Is hilarious..

He's not the only one that had some sites go down in ranking and some sites go up.. But unlike people with level heads, who took some time away from things, went for a walk or went on the Jeffrey bender and drank a handle of rum over the course of two days. Got back on the horse, went ahead and started creating new sites to replace the ones that got hit (that may or may not be salvageable). Or at the very least, done something constructive and though, what could be some of the reasons site A got effected and site B didn't,ect...

No he want's people to feel sorry for him, tell him everything is going to be alright and respond with ridiculous posts.
 
Many of my test sites dropped in this update. Just like they have in previous updates. They always come back. I will leave one tip for the duffers - don't overreact. Don't rip apart your site or do anything rash... for heavens sake don't respond to an unnatural link notice. Just keep adding content and building links. If you were living off Fiver links - upgrade, but otherwise just keep plugging along.
