China’s deserted fake Disneyland

The whole thing was a money laundering scheme. Really.

Empty cities, empty attractions..... I know so many here love China, actually love anything anti-US, but they have more problems than the US.

You forgot to mention how the authorities murdered Wukan's negotiator. Shit's getting real down there!

I know so many here love China, actually love anything anti-US, but they have more problems than the US.
I don't think many of us have any love for China... I wouldn't live there myself, and frankly the way things are going I don't even plan to visit again, ever.

But dude, they're like 1.4 Billion ppl.. We're just 0.4 Billion ppl, yet we produce tons of daily news... Scale it up and you'll see that China's ALWAYS got serious shit going down, tons of news that they must be straining to pay attention to every day, yet they can deal with it like we can deal with ours. Kinda. ;)

They are based on an export economy which is shrinking. Inflation is pushing prices up there making it harder for families to buy food. Once the situation is intolerable, the Chinese people will become restless. Its already happening in the rural areas. As we speak, theres a chinese town being isolated by the government.

Wukan Revolts

Wukan Revolts | China Power
December 15, 2011

China’s Communist Party has for the first time on record, one reporter says, “lost all control.” In what is the culmination of months of unrest over a planned land seizure in Wukan, party officials have been completely ejected from the southern fishing village.

Thanks, I hadn't heard about Wukan. That's something to think about.

It's a great blog, a bit sad though to see all that waste of time and effort.

"Funds were withdrawn due to disagreements over property prices with the local government and farmers"

That bit confuses me, were they going to sell the fairy towers to the farmers?

This thread just ruined my weekend.

But, I have to agree that its a great way to show the kids how they can save money, or something like that. Im just too depressed to write about it.

Fuck me! Has Disney Bombed that park yet????

Wow, that's some blatant shit. I especially LOL'd at Shrek being in their disneyland... Oy vey.

We probably have one of their famous entertainment landmarks in the form of a Happy Wok and don't even know it.

SOMETHING seems sinister about this to be sure, I can't make any educated guesses but it just feels funny.

In the country side of Shanghai and Beijing i saw so many huge ghost town. I really mean 100 of 40 story building absolutely empty....

Are you sure that they are ABSOLUTELY empty?
Check out Russian old bunkers - http://englishrussia.com/2011/11/18/declassified-bunker-of-the-ussr/
I lived there and passed these buildings all the time when I was a kid, without any second thought what could be inside. And like in Russia those days, China is a communist country, you just can't think about it and get into things.

1 building can serve a purpose of an entry way to the city through the underground tunnel. 99 are just there for delusion and a place for the troops once they quickly need to relocate. Just a conspiracy theory, but still. :)

I think this really has to do with the fact that Chinese children are not spoiled, they're not treated like Children but rather the mini adults that they are.

So the culture there is much more mature that's why Chinese children are far more intelligent, they're not interested in being dumbed down in americanized fantasy parks. Let me rephrase that actually, the children probably would be interested of course, but the parents are more responsible.

They would rather spend real moments together with family and not partake in the premeditated fun america is known for.

i think its appropriate that your username has been derived from delusional.+
