Chinese / Hong Kong KungFu Movies You Like the Most?

Ong Bak is nice...don't like how part 2 finished though. Tony Jaa movies rock but I will watch any kung fu movie that Jet Li or Donnie Yen is in. Ip Man 2 trailer rocks, go Donnie Yen! I noticed Sammo Hung in that one too.

Iron Monkey first one was good. Didn't like the second one.

His 'kung fu' is pure showmanship. He never fought competitively (unlike Jet Li who was champion of China) let alone in the street (like Bruce Lee and other Wing Chun fighters of his time who also participated in semi-organized no holds barred fights in Hong Kong).

Jackie Chan learn his kung fu in Peking Opera school. He learnt it for performance and was a stuntman/actor from a young age.

Jet li practice Wushu so he never fought competitively either

Actually you're right, for some reason I thought he competed in the fighting events too, but he was only doing the forms.

while double checking that I just read that when Jet Li toured the US in a performance group and performed for Richard Nixon Nixon asked him to become his personal bodyguard (possibly jokingly, as Li was really young if not a kid). lol

To namedrop a bit - one of my tai chi teachers is good friends with Jet Li's teacher and even taught Jet's teacher some wushu forms. He loves showing off his photos with Jet Li when he was in Sydney and stayed at his house.

Also Dolph Lungren was training in Kyokushin under my Kyokushin teacher for a while. That guy can actually fight. Unlike say Jean-Claude van Damme.

Dolph Lundgren really brings me back. That guy movies are always crazy.
