Hong Kong has stringent licensing requirements on street vendors. So I don't think so, unless we're talking like 30 years ago.
Food is very clean in HK, I never get sick in HK. Unfortunately with China, it's really hit or miss for me.

On the real though, I visited China last year, and I went on a 7-day tour trip with about 4 other couples (they were all self-made millionaires, a gotdamned coincidence that was). For only $350 (yes, $350 USD, it was sponsored by the government or something like that to make this travel plan uber cheap), we toured 4 different cities and stayed in 5-star hotels every single day.
One dude started his own dental company, another started a glass-importing company in NY, and I forget what the others did. Awesome trip, great memories were had.
I'll never forget when we visited Zhangjajie. It's where they filmed Avatar. You gotta visit dat place. Fucken epic.
Kinda reminds me of Meteora in Greece. I've never set foot in a more peaceful place. They built monasteries on top of fucking cliffs in the middle of nowhere.. hundreds of years ago.
Genius!! I love the Chinese. They are so creatively evil and brilliant simultaneously and give zero fucks, so long as it makes the money.

While I don't find the thought of eating trash juice particularly appealing, it's not all together much worse than how regular vegetable oil is made! It's just as bad for your health.
