Chiroprators - Real Deal or Bullshit?

I would say Brandon's case is a Quack, doesn't sound like the guy did any poking or limb flex or anything during the questioning, which is usually a much better indicator of where a problem is than 3 generally worded questions.

Good point. The chiropractor I was seeing in Vancouver did a full examination before she ever did any adjustments, including xrays.

Any Chiropractor that does an adjustment before he sees the results from x-rays is a fraud and a danger. Seriously.

The guy I see refuses to see people who just want occasional pain relief, and has lost patients who come in and want an adjustment before he can go through the xrays and other tests. It is not worth the damage to his reputation and business. Plus it is downright dangerous.

I can just envision your next reply, like your last, will be insult laden, yet won't have anything real to say.
What a hypocrite you are. Your first reply in this thread was
You're an idiot. You know shit about back pain. You know dick shit about medicine. It is obvious.
yet you actually have the nerve to predict someone else's response will be "insult laden"???? Classic.

The opinions from people who have actually experience it first hand speak for themselves. You speak from complete ignorance. Grow up and stick to opining about what you know....which doesn't appear to be much.

Fuck the Chiropractor - Do this and you will be cured

My back has been bugging me for quite a while now, so I finally decided to go to a chiropractor and see if they could help. I have always been skeptical of chiropractics, but I though I'd give it a shot.

Honestly, when I met with the guy, I felt like I was talking to the same type of people who do palm readings, or taro cards. The questions he asked and things he implied or commented about would apply to 99% of the people out there.

Chiropractor comment: "You probably don't sleep real good, do you?"
My Answer: "Does anyone?"

Chiropractor comment: "Your back problem could be caused by a rib out of alignment, which could be caused by sneezing. Do you sneeze hard?"
My Answer: "You mean I'm going to have to come back every time I sneeze? Haha!"

End result....It's been 4 days since I went and my back is worse that it was before I went. They told me it may take 3-4 more times. I said, "what...3-4 more time until my back will be totally fucked?
I'm a 4th year med student. Take it from me - go to an internist first. They will refer you to the proper specialist with experience in spinal/back problems.

The first thing you have to do with back pain is proper diagnostic testing to determine the cause of the symptoms and the severity of the problem. And by diagnostic testing, I don't mean asking you if you sneeze too hard. I'm talking about imaging studies, including CT scans and MRI. The next step is having them read by an experienced MD (emphasis on MD).

P.S. Oh yeah, stay the fuck away from chiropractors. I don't give a fuck if there's one guy out there who actually happens to know what he's doing. Majority of them are quacks and shouldn't be waxing ppl's backs much less 're-aligning' them. Go to an accredited, experienced MD.

My Fiance is an office manager for a Chiropractor. At first I used to think that Chiropractors were junk treatments, I would make fun of her all the time, but I've seen some of the stuff they do and the results of people who go to her office, and it's quite amazing. There have been people who've come in there in wheel chairs and after several treatments were able to walk with a cane, then after some more treatments were able to walk unassisted. People who have suffered with migraines all their life are free from them. People who couldn't even stand fully upright are now able to. You've just got to find the right one, not some cheap strip mall office but a true practice.

I got into a car accident and wouldn't be able to function now if I hadn't gone to chiropractor and massage treatments religiously for a year. Maybe you guys just need to find better chiropractors..

had a motorcycle accident, and back has been jacked ever since .. have seen 3 different chiro's with no change..

Massages do me better

I've made a living doing online marketing for 7 years. That is why I'm here. I answered this thread because I've had back problems even before I had a motorcycle accident several years ago. I don't think you could fathom the pain I've felt in my back. And it is mostly gone. It didn't take surgery... mainly just a combination of pills/shots between the vertebrae and physical therapy... you know, western medicine style. No quack-o pseudo science.

And what you quoted of me, wasn't my first reply to this thread you fucktard. In fact, that reply was to this:

Thats why Chiropractic works. It's basic fucking common sense. Disks, joints get out of whack, pinch nerves, cause muscle spasms which in turn pulls disks more out of alignment....Put everything back in place and shit works the way it was intended.

Your car never gets out of alignment? Never need to fill the tires and rebalance? What happens if you don't? Shit starts to rattle apart.

I'm not against traditional doctors nor drugs but if I can simply fix the root of the problem rather than pop pills and other chemicals I'll do it.

Well, excuse me for not finding fucking sense in your car example... last I checked our body doesn't work exactly like a car (albeit certain parts are comparable).

And your last post pointed out what a douche you are. It contains no information, except a few insults and a little whinny rant with a lie.

It seems like your only useful contribution to this forum was this:

http://www.wickedfire.com/shooting-shit/62237-everyone-welcome-hardsale-forum.html

and only because that thread proves what a retarded fucking asshole you are and the fact that no one here likes you. Why don't you take a hike over to DP where people like you, who act like they know anything about IM can just up their post count with useless trash and gain 'authority' status.

So I tried "screw the chiroprctor"
Let me google that for you

and came across this on another forum...
Auto-fellatio - Gothic.net Community

And I quote...
"Screw your chiropractor's advice, he's not a real doctor anyway. Remove your
ribcage while you're at it, so you can curl up more easily. Sucking your own cock is a level of narcissism I'd rather not be at."

hahahaha!

good to know there are others as sick as WF

My chiropractor is awesome. After a back adjustment I seriously cant crack my back for a solid week. Only downside is that getting adjusted releases endurphance which actually makes it addicting. I go to my chiro about 2 times a month. If you have insurance, a $5 copay is easily worth it.

I'm back at the chiropractor. I've got to do something about these vertebrates that are collapsing upon themselves. I'm going to see if I can get a pic of my xrays today and show you guys how fucked up my back is. Anyway I'm trying out the Lordex Decompressor (there's a video on youtube, not going to link to it as it embeds the video here. Skip to 4:00 for specifics on the machine) now. Yesterday was my first day and I would do it for about 20-30 sessions. Here's one of the main reasons I'm doing it (besides the fact that If I don't try everything, I will eventually need surgery) When I went to the office 2 days ago there was a woman on the Decompressor. When we walked by he said, "How ya doing Eve?" she said, just fine. Then we did my adjustment and he told me All about Eve. (heh) Apparently 2 years ago she was scheduled for back surgery because 3 of her discs (L2 L3 and L4) were herniated and she was completely bone on bone. The pain so excruciating she had to use a wheelchair and or walker to get around. She read about the decompressor and found a chiropractor (my guy) who used one in his office. My chriro actually said Eve your case is severe I don't know whether this will help you or not. And she said anything is better than surgery so she tried it. By the 8th session she was pain free. She went a full 25 sessions in 6 weeks. No more pain. To this day she's not had anymore pain. She comes in for "maintenance" sessions even though the chiropractor told her it's probably not necessary.

Now. blah blah blah. We've all heard testimonial shit like this before. right? So yesterday we were in his office going over my xrays (again) and he said oh, I wanted to show you Eve's xrays. So he goes and gets them and pulls them out the first one looked almost identical to mine (yowch) vertebrates collapsing in on themselves, barely any space between the holes where the nerves flow through. And then the second x ray showed a beautifully perfect spine. Of course being the total skeptic I am I took the xrays and looked at the names and dates. They both said Eve xxxx and dated 6 weeks from each other. It was pretty impressive. I guess he could have fudged this info, but I had just seen Eva yesterday randomly (the chropractor had no idea I was coming in, I just dropped in, so it couldn't have been a set up. <--God look how paranoid I am. I blame wf.)

So anyways that's what I'm doing now. Cross your fingers that it works for me.

For those of you that have problems with chiropractors (with good reason since they're so voodoo quacky half the time) do you also have a problems with Doctors of Osteopathy? Which are pretty much Chiropractors with med degrees?

EDIT: forgot to mention. I have an appointment with an Orthopedic surgeon on Friday. Since I'm a skeptic at heart I want to talk to a real doctor too :D Also I want to cover all the bases. Plus it's high time I get that MRI.

Holy crap that reads better than any acai berry flog testimonial ive ever seen.

I cannot believe affiliate marketers slanging rebill suppliments, etc. fall for chiro's. These people do what you do, but they do it in real life!

I'm surprised at you going to a chiroprator Turbo, but I guess thats one of the problems with the quack remedies, when people get desperate they think they 'might as well give it a go, what harm can it do'?

As for Osteopathy, yep, its quack and has no place in science based medicine. All you have to do is read a little on the subject to realise that they wont do anything more for you than a good massage.

heh. I knew someone would say that.

@bluejammin There's no question that a chiropractor works within some degree. I mean If I walk in (hobble) Completely slanted (I can't really explain it, there's a picture of me on my blog at christmas time all hunched to the side) and walk out 80% straighter after one adjustment...well there you go.
But that's about the only thing I"ll credit a chripractor for. Basically if you are completely out of whack they'll set you straight but you'll wind up there again if you don't fix whatever is causing it. (and I'm not sure chriopractors can do that)

So then how would you explain her xrays? She healed herself with the power of her mind because she believed in her god (the chiropractor)? heh. I know self healing is a pretty powerful thing. But that seems pretty severe.

just because something has a placebo effect does not make it a proven remedy. Double blind trials conducted in a scientific manner are all that is important
