What are people's thoughts on CJ's decision to change over to JavaScript links?

Everything I have read to date says that pages with a lot of links on it will slow down dramatically.

Do you think this is a smart move or a stupid decision from Commission Junction?

Terrible. Now it takes an extra few clicks to get the old format links. When you have to do it a few times each day, it adds up.
If CJ remove the option to use standard links altogether, I will not be using CJ any more.
I don't mind advertising methods (adsense etc) using javascript, but the affiliate model is different. I want 100% control over what goes on my affiliate sites.

Its a stupid idea why dont they have both and let the affiliate decide.

Anyway CJ are going to do want they want and not listen to the affiliates - I will still promote them just not as heavily

My understanding is that they are being forced to do it because of Google.
Maybe I'm wrong.

Whatever their reasons may be, I'm not liking it.

How easy will it be to modify the links to integrate them better with the site ?! How many customization options will they offer ?! What about the users with disabled javascript ?! Too many questions, we'll just have to wait and see...

I agree with all the am talking heads that it sucks. It's going to slow everyones websites way down if they have many affiliate links.

I'm really not all the impressed with cj lately... I don't like what theyve done with their admin area/panel.. it seems to get more confusing by the month.

As for the links being changed to js, why are they doing this to begin with?

I totally agree with you. You would think that they could make their site easier to use so that gathering your affiliate links wasn't such a chore.

Also, as to the javascript links. For some reason, when they made the switch, it killed the ebay ads I had running. That really pissed me off, because I had to go through all my sites and add them again. Thanks for that CJ!

i have seen a lot of merchant posting that the are moving because of this - ive had a few emails already - to please change all you aff links to the new network they are moving to

i think CJ are shooting themself in the foot
