Clickbooth's Blog/Review Guidelines

Yah, I was going to add that I actually sell wholesale herbs/supplements and even worse is the acai they generally sell. You are talking closer to $2 with bottles and labels for this weak ass shit.

Back on topic, the problem with the "guidelines" is they are so broad that it would be impossible to follow and incredibly easy fo0r clickbooth not to pay.

FWIW I actually get some real testimonials on ecommerce site and if I had to ask for the persons ID they would tell me to fuck off!

I don't get why people use CB period...

didn't even bother reading their email because they suck ass

I love being outnumbered....it shows me that I am in the enlightened minority. :)

One of the issues in this thread which refuses to be mentioned is the concept of self-regulation versus government regulation.

I would love to hear people here at WickedFire promote an idea that permits us in the industry to self regulate.

What I see in this thread is people being against anything and everything and for keeping the status quo.

Unfortunately the status quo is rooted in deception and does not posess integrity.
(That's not me speaking....can you spell FTC?)

I have had friends on the wrong side of the FTC and believe me that is what is coming
if the leaders in this industry refuse to find a means of self regulation.

It wasn't that long ago that email (spam) faced a similar situation in our industry.
The CAN SPAM law was adopted because we could not find a means to self regulate.
Far from ideal CAN SPAM was passed as a solution.

Attacking Clickbooth over this is crazy. Let me see or hear a better solution.

Everbody knows that these fake blog sites have increased conversion.
Charles Revlon once said, "In the factory we make cosmetics, in the store we sell hope." The takeaway from the last six months is that fake blogs are stories which create hope for people with a problem. I envision that the astute merchants in this industry will adopt authentic testimonial style websites very shortly so that the marketing process that has worked will continue to work.

I'd love to hear alternatives to what Clickbooth has suggested.'

If you can't what I hear you saying is that the FTC can do a better job than we can.

uhm so like why are we beating up on clickbooth for taking a stand against fraud+deception? You do realize that the "flog" business model is NOT sustainable in the long term.

the industry goes through this all the time - anyone remember the big ringtone crackdown where azoogle was first to act?

nothing new

misterguitar, tjewsky:

How about you guys actually read and try to understand their "policy"? There's a lot of room between letting flogs run rampant and disallowing any sites that are created for CPA offers or requiring IDs for testimonials (two absurd examples, their guidelines are full with those). Oh and you know, CB claiming that their advertisers adhere to their mess of guidelines, when clearly they don't.

And comparing CB to Azoogle is laughable at best. One decided to make a big issue out of something fairly contained, while the other actually tried to solve the issue at hand. One states anything less than 100% compliance is not acceptable, while the other realized it's not possible. One claimed a lot, and delivered on very little, while the other actually followed up on it.

Shall I go on? Azoogle actually targeted "Free Ringtones" (and later Complimentary), had the Advertiser change their landing pages, and worked with affiliates to ensure compliance. You'd have a point if Azoogle went batshit insane and demanded any publisher or advertiser in any vertical that says free needs terms above the fold and double opt-ins, regardless of whether it's a toolbar download or continuity model, while at the same time ringtone offers on their network continued to say free.

Hello friend,

But is whole point of affiliate marketing not to scam stupid people? If no can scam people then no can make money.

Good luck bro

Are you really so thick as to believe this is about flogs?
I haven't ran flogs in months, and I still call this as big brother bullshit.
Would you give them your campaign on a platter? I sure as fuck wouldn't.
And they're saying you don't get paid if you don't. Think about how much information is required to enforce this stuff.

I think in the end, there needs to be a middle ground between Clickbooths nuclear option and the free-for-all wild west that it was. The Networks are going to have to do something about the shaddy stuff done by some publishers, at the same time no network should believe they can clamp down like that and not have it back fire.

Networks are never going to get publishers to give up their secret sauce, and publishers have to expect some control once the lawsuits start flying.

Clickbooth is so bad that I signed up with them about a year ago (after reading that they dominate on somebody's blog) and I still haven't gotten a welcome/login info email from them.

I do get offer updates tho!

the only thing you have missed out on is wasted time and money

Browsed the forum here for a while now, but this one I have to post on!

"Links to products must have an asterisk leading to a disclaimer that discloses affiliations and compensation"

Who would EVER actually do this? No publisher in there right mind would plaster links all over a page saying "if you click this, I might get paid" and it would also totally destroy conversion rates for the traffic. I've been a publisher for almost 10 years - now also on the network site as well now - and even CJ back in the day (yes - I started on CJ back in 00' - gag!) never had restrictions like that. But like John said in his post - they are just being careful - just really really careful...

Just me two cents worth.

1.) TC is all about (justifing) shaving results for advertisers and CB.
2.) Nice dog an pony show for the advertisers
3.) Real Question is whether or not they are enforcing these terms?

CPA deals..?? WHO GOT THE POWER! affiliates? NOT.

I bet CBPayoutkiller will be in charge of terminating non compliant publishers and killing their payouts.

GO SUCK A FUCKING DICK CLICK BOOTH!
