I don't mind if people think I'm lying. I'm the one who is getting paid, not you guys. Booyah!

Certianly more respectable than some douche selling an e-book telling you how you can make $150k a year on your own blog and just making stuff up.

Who cares how much your blog makes except for you? You are not trying to sell your mad blog skills in an e-book.

Could it just be that the aojon.com readers are so smart they don't have the alexa toolbar installed?

No....

I don't really care what Jon makes, I am more interested in what I make :D

Seems like John Chow's blog was banned by DIGG.com. That will take a chunk out of his traffic and income from his blog.

For sure it gives a good indication regarding 'daily traffic rank', but how reliable is Alexa?

I've disliked Alexa since day one. It's just too damn easy to cheat with and it comes nowhere near the real amount of traffic stats that AWStats or Webalizer even shows. You can say the same thing with Adsense, many times they report things so far off than normal stats, and that's including when you filter out all of the spiders/bots that hit the sites. Nothing is as good as internal shit, and that's what I stick with. :error:

Alexa is so easily "adjusted" it's not funny. I've taken brand new sites to the 150,000 mark just from working on them before they'd got traffic from anywhere.

Take a look at this experiment that's going on at the moment. The results should be interesting

Alexa is 100% wrong and you can game it with as few as three machines--or so I've been told. - The Jason Calacanis Weblog
