Competitor hired someone to clone my site



Well first off you really can't get a PHP script without downloading the original version from the server. The only thing they can get is what HTML the PHP spits out. So it will be rather complicated for them to get that unless ofcourse they exploit your server and get the files in their raw format.

It sounds like it's wrote in flash/actionscript. If that's the case then he's probably fucked. I don't know much about as/flash, but if I had to guess you could at the very least obfuscate the code. If you obfuscate it and put in some sort of call home feature then you could probably bust who ever is doing it. They would also have one hell of a time trying to make any modifications to it.
 
Stop wasting your time.

Anyone can buy vBulletin, but creating another WickedFire is the hard part.

If you ever have anything with moderate success or even something that someone else simply wants, they'll copy you. Instead, push ahead on the things that matter while they fritter around in frivolity on something that doesn't.

DMCA complaints? lol. Ok. So maybe you can cajole someone's web host to confront them about a ripped site. Probably don't even need to file a complaint if you just email the webhost.

But what does that really get you? The time you wasted being Internet Sleuth and worrying about it cost you more than some naive ripper ever will.
