Found below is an open letter to the host of a popular Catholic TV show here in Manila. It's HILARIOUS...

Hi,

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's laws. I have learned a great deal from your show and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. I do however need some advice from you, regarding some other elements of God's laws and how to follow them...

1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Koreans, but not Singaporeans. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Singaporeans?

2. I would like to sell my son into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for him?

3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of Menstrual uncleanliness -Lev15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord -Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the cops to do it?

6. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have defective eyesight. I have to admit that I'm permanently blind. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here?

7. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?

8. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may my friends still play football if they wear gloves?

9. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in such matters, so I'm confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging...

The bible makes no sense. This is already well known. The church does a good job of spinning what they want you to see to mind fuck you.
 
Yep all leviticus and exodus quotes. I called that before reading. Doesn't it bother anyone else that every piece of bible trashing is nothing but Leviticus and Exodus quotes?

I'll break it down for you in my own interpretation and words because i think Exodus and Leviticus is actually a pretty dope story.

Exodus and Leviticus are the second and third books of the bible known as the the Pentateuch (5 early books). They are a count of the early social fibers of biblical society. Picture this. This is taking place right around the times of the infamous Tower of Babel story (the supposed splitting of the languages when they tried to build a tower that would reach heaven). You have a few bands of early societies forming for the first time and while this is after the garden of eden but before prophets and any tellings of exactly what heaven or hell is, who god is or how to please the dude. Your society has the knowledge of good and evil (built in morals) but no solid foundation for morals or ancestors passing down their developed morals or social norms. You don't know what works and what will really come to fuck you. So you're making a lot of shit up through trial and error. As you can imagine things can get pretty fucked quickly. A brother and sister having sex is cool because hell thats how you were born, but you go to have sex with another dude and since there is now some shit on your dick you must be getting punished somehow for that decision. Clearly all gays must go to hell..etc. etc. Hah basically.

Exodus and Leviticus are exactly that. They're a count of those early morals and laws. Most importantly, it's the story of how biblical mankind got through the struggle of creating societies. Imagine if they weren't able to work their morals and laws out? Society would have broken down and mankind wouldn't have survived. So while it's a very important part of biblical history it neither should be discounted nor taken as any sort of moral base.

This is why context is always important in any kind of fancy dancy book learnin'. Today, some hardcore bible thumpers, we call them "religious nuts", don't take into account the context of these two books so they try to follow all these crazy rules. Which as you can imagine is tough as shit since they contradict a lot of what Moses will tell them to do a few thousand years later. Likewise people who are looking to for an easy shot at discrediting the bible take the two books out of context as well for their own agenda.

just a reminder that believers say that god wrote those books (why no mention of Xbox360?) and all this comfortable, relaxed way of waving biblical things off is pretty new, 400 years ago it would have gotten your in the fire (literally)
its almost the same as the fight the church had with Galileo, and a couple of years later they just accept the real true fact and move on as if nothing happened.
 
Well, in response to Eli.

Leviticus is often taken to trash bible thumpers because one of their most liked political influence mongering "no gay marriage, it's in the bible" comes straight from Leviticus 18:22.

Funny as they are quote picking and you just have to read on a tiny bit to to get crazy shit. like quoted above.

No it doesn't. Homosexuality is demonized throughout the entire bible, both old and new testaments and in every other religion for that matter. We can argue about why that is from a philosophical standpoint, and whether or not it's justified, but the religious stance on homosexuality is very clear and stems from a helluva lot more than some verse in Leviticus.

Christianity has become nothing more than an exercise in backpedaling and intellectual bankruptcy. Science marches forward and marks one advance after another, and then Christians reluctantly try to fit these irrefutable truths into their fairy tales. A servile race that indoctrinates children with tales of talking snakes and boats full of animals. Most of them can't even defend their own beliefs, and will shut off if you even challenge them, because the first story of man & woman in the bible teaches that knowledge is evil. And let's not even get started on the wars and torture and pedophilia and treatment of women and homosexuals etc etc etc.

Religion is a bunch of ignorant people standing around and measuring their imaginary friends' dicks.

I never learned in church that science and God/faith are mutually exclusive.
