Ok the mom made some poor decisions, no doubt. She should have taken the ticket with a smile, the fact that that she didn't makes me think something else was up, her papers weren't in order (insrance, warrant, something) and she panicked when she thought she was going to get arrested in a place where she's not from and has to be thinking "Where are they going to take my kids???" This is a protective instinct. Why the fuck she is on a solo vacation with her kids if her shit isn't in order I don't know. She also should not be fucking speeding with her kids in the car, period.
But.... that cop was wrong to shoot. If they thought this woman was dangerous then wouldn't those children immediately be given "hostage" status? Victims. They could have talked her down. They took it to a physical confrontation way too fast. They could have followed her at a safe distance until she ran out of gas even. And I don't know how many of you have seen or experienced tires being shot out from under a moving vehicle but it's not the nice easy stop you'd want for a minivan full of kids, it's very easy to lose control of the vehicle, go offroad and even flip if you are going fast. This was too much. The cop had an emotional reaction and he's not paid to make decisions based on his emotions.
