Summary: In 2011, Officer Duncan was part of a team looking for two men, Dwayne Barrett and Joseph Bushfan, both in their early twenties. The latter lived with his 68-year-old stepfather, Eurie Stamps. The cops had planned a raid on Stamps's house.

Moments before the raid, Barrett was arrested coming out of the house (he did not live there). Once Barrett was in custody, the police stormed the residence. They used a battering ram to bust in the door and threw a flash grenade inside.

By the time Duncan reached Eurie Stamps, he was already on the floor, face down and arms over his head. He gave every indication of compliance. Duncan reached down to pull Stamps's hands behind his back, presumably to put him in restraints. The officer allegedly lost his balance, discharging his M4 rifle. The round tore through Stamps's face, puncturing his left lung, aorta, and pulmonary artery. He died from his injuries.

"I heard the discharge, and it was almost like there was a shot fired," Duncan later said.

Stamps, pictured below, was not suspected of a crime at the time of the raid. Nor was he the subject of the raid that ultimately resulted in his death.

The district attorney's investigation ruled the incident an accident, finding that Duncan's actions, as well as those of the other officers involved in the raid, were without fault.

Next up: Officer David R. Barrera and the Houston PD.

* photo unavailable.

Summary: In 1998, Houston PD arrested Ryan Baxter. He admitted to smoking crack and giving alcohol to a 15-year-old. The officers offered him a deal: they would release him if he gave up his drug source. Baxter pointed them to a residence where he claimed to have purchased drugs.

At 1:40 a.m., Houston PD descended on the address given them by the informant. Pedro Navarro, 22, answered the door when Baxter knocked and scrambled backward as cops rushed through the entry. As they pushed through the home's hallway, Officer Barrera's firearm allegedly discharged accidentally.

During the confusion, a round hit Officer Lamont E. Tillery. Believing the shot came from 22-year-old Navarro, the cops unleashed dozens of rounds at him. He was killed during the attack.

An autopsy showed that 9 shots had been fired downward, suggesting Navarro was already on the ground. Two additional rounds had hit him in the head. A total of 30 shots were discharged.

A later investigation revealed that Officer Tillery had been shot by another cop: Officer Barrerra.

Nine officers were involved in the incident. Six were investigated. One was indicted on a misdemeanor. He was later acquitted.

* no photo of Navarro is available.

Next up: Officers of the Pima County AZ SWAT team.

Summary: On the morning of May 5, 2011, U.S. Marine veteran Jose Guerena was sleeping with his wife. She heard loud noises outside and awakened him. (The noise was later revealed to be caused by flash/bang grenades.) Guerena told his wife to hide in the closet with his 4-year-old son. He grabbed his AR-15 and positioned himself where he could defend his home and family from intruders.

At approximately 9:00 a.m., officers of the Pima County SWAT team burst through the door. Several of them later reported being fired upon by Guerena, mentioning that they saw the distinct muzzle flash produced when rounds are fired. Other officers reported seeing the wood from the door's frame splinter as rounds from Guerena's weapon hit it. In response, the officers began to fire upon Guerena. (At least one report later revealed that the wood had splintered due to a round fired by one of the deputies on site.)

Adding to the story about Guerena's alleged use of deadly force, Lt. Michael O'Connor told the press, "The suspect said, 'I've got something for you,' when he saw them." This claim has been denied by Guerena's wife.

During the incident, the SWAT team fired more than 70 rounds at Guerena while his wife and son hid in the closet. Sixty of the rounds hit Guerena, killing him.

Despite reports from several officers about muzzle flashes from Guerena's gun, a later evaluation of his AR-15 revealed it had not been fired.

Guerena, pictured below, was 26 at the time of his death.

The purpose of the raid involved suspicions of drug possession. No drugs were found in Guerena's house. Nor did Guerena have a criminal record. The city settled with his family for a reported $3.4 million. At the time of writing, none of the officers involved in the incident have been charged or convicted of any wrongdoing.

the ROLE of a cop and the POLICE force is to attack those who the mainstream deem not worthy or a threat to the system. Can you guess who's not deemed worthy in AMERICA?

Let's kick off 2014 with a bang...

“We don’t have time for this!” exclaimed a police officer as he shot and killed a psychologically troubled, 90-pound teenage boy who had already been tasered and was pinned down beneath two other officers. The victim, 18-year-old Keith Vidal, was “armed” with a screwdriver at the time of his death.

Vidal’s father, Mark Wilsey, had called the police for help when the boy suffered what was described as a psychotic episode on the afternoon of January 5. When the police arrived at the family’s home in Boiling Spring Lakes, North Carolina, they rendered the kind of “help” for which they have become so notorious – repeatedly tasering the troubled young man until one of them simply shot him as a time-saving measure.

“There was no reason to shoot this kid,” Wilsey told the local NBC affiliate. “We called for help and they killed my son.” During a press conference today (January 6), Wilsey recalled that he was helping the police try to calm down his son when one of the officers fired the fatal gunshot. In addition to killing Vidal, the officer imperiled the lives of several other people – including two of his comrades at risk. He later pointed his gun at Wilsey when the father reacted with predictable pain and outrage over the murder of his son.

There was “no reason” for deadly force, Wilsey points out. “They had Tasers on them, and they didn’t have to even tase him, they could have just talked to him, talked to him another ten minutes.”

Speaking during the press conference, Vidal’s mother urged parents of emotionally troubled children not to place the lives of their loved ones at risk by inviting the intervention of armed strangers clothed in the supposed authority to kill: “Do not call the police department for help – because your son will probably be killed, like mine was.”

"Good cop" is an oxymoron.

What do they do all day? They harass innocent people, collect money at gunpoint and throw people in cages for non-crimes. They're in a position where they can do violent, horrible things to people, legally, that anyone in the non-enforcer class would be appalled by and imprisoned for - and they volunteered for this.

They don't "protect and serve". They have no legal obligation to protect anyone. They do nothing to prevent crimes - and only in rare cases are they competent enough to solve real crimes.

They're the overseers of the largest prison population in the history of the world. It's like saying someone was a "good Nazi" - maybe he was just doing his job, he's still an evil bastard.

The closest thing to a "good cop" I can think of is a meter maid, at their very best they're still overzealous revenue collectors, out to rob their neighbors while being financed with stolen money.

If a cop sees you have a tail light out and pulls you over, do you think he's doing so because he's looking out for you, or that he's praying that you've been drinking or he'll find some inanimate object on you that's been deemed illegal by the state so he can lock you up and brag to his buddies about it?

Hitler and Stalin's enforcers had their hero worshippers too. Some were worse than others. Many probably seemed like nice enough guys just doing their jobs. That doesn't make them good.

Even cops admit that you should never talk to them, their only job is to prosecute you - not protect you. And you're always guilty of something whether you know it or not.

When was the last time you were in Pima County, AZ?
Easy to find things that appear to be unjust, not so easy to actually determine what transpired. Simple minds fight what appears to be injustice, some people actually look at the elemental factors.

I live in Tucson, AZ (Pima County). I remember this well, the newspaper made him out to be a drug dealer, although they lacked any evidence at the scene. Basically, the thought that he had guns (an AK) seemed to be substantial enough that they used that as the hook. Too bad for a soldier that had served his gov. Actually a total tragedy for his wife and children.

I had no personal relationship with the dude, or reason to believe that he wasn't a drug dealer.

"Medical records show that bones in his face were broken and he choked on his own blood. The coroner concluded that compression of the thorax made it impossible for Thomas to breathe normally and deprived his brain of oxygen. His parents removed him from life support five days later, and he died from his injuries on July 10, 2011. Officer Manuel Ramos was charged with one count of 2nd degree murder and one count of involuntary manslaughter; Corporal Jay Cicinelli and Officer Joseph Wolfe were each charged with one count of felony involuntary manslaughter and one count of excessive force. All three pleaded not guilty." Source
