Cortisone Shots

I had a long and miserable incidence of foot pain that I was given cortisone injections for. They shot me up twice, it didn't help much and I almost had my foot operated on. The pain remained intense until I stayed off my feet for weeks and the inflammation went down by itself. I never got it back again like it was before.

Anybody ever have one of these fuckers?

The doc wants me to get 1 in each heel, and 1 in my ankle, but from what I hear they're quite unpleasant.

Like stepping on a damn extra long thumbtack.

I've had several of them. Not in my heel (I've heard those were painful) but in my ankle. There is a "freezing spray" that your doctor can spray on the site while giving you the shot. Keeps you from feeling it at all, pretty much. Ask your doctor about it. Good luck to you. :)

I have scars on my chest and my shoulders I get them every 4-5 months to hide the scars. They arn't really that bad. It feels like someone is stabbing you with a knife, but only for about 5 minutes max.

Dr. N00bie sez you should take my advice and stay off your feet. Take the maximum amount of Advil or other ibuprophen medicine every day to cut the pain. You can wrap your foot and ankle in an elastic bandage for support.

Wait a few weeks and it all go bye-bye. :)

I've already been to Dr. N00bie.

I've iced, stretched, loaded with Advil, and stayed off my feet. No deal.

Arthritis doesn't disappear in a few weeks.

And taking the maximum amount of Advil and Ibuprofen every day is really going to work wonders on your stomach and kidneys. Arthritis is bad enough, no sense in adding Ulcers too.

The cortisone shot should work, but it is only temporary relief. Chances are in a couple of months you will be right back in the doctor's office getting another one. But, if the pain is that bad then I say go for it so you can walk normal again.
