To those that are lucky enough to have found a designer they use repeatedly... and continue to get quality service... please share some advice:

I'm a full time marketer for 5 years now and that's still one nut I haven't cracked. Don't understand it. I'm not overly picky or unreasonable as long as the design looks professional. I pay well AND tip generously when deadlines are met.

But still, it seems that after using someone a couple of times, they start to flake on me. Emails for new projects suddenly take 4-5 days to acknowledge so the project can (possibly) get started... where once, they took 4-5 hours (max). Deadlines are no longer met... prices, for the same service, keep getting higher.

So I ask you this: what's wrong here? I have no problems (generally) dealing with coders, accountants, lawyers, contract manufacturers, etc... but designers... FUCK!

Am I the only one with this problem? And if not, what's the solution?

Happens with everyone bro... just hold a flame under his ass... I got a guy I can recommend if you want, he's not that cheap though.

you gotta just hold them to their agreements. be firm. get angry.

designers (like mostly everyone else) are lazy.

This is my suggestion, meet the designer that you have locally. See, what I have experienced is the "out of site, out of mind." mentality on the internet. They'll tell you everything you need to hear to get that foot in the door and what happens is they shoot themselves to quickly and get cocky faster.

Go local. Or I can send you a list of good designers but they have a waiting list because they are pretty good.

Thanks guys... and please recommend via PM. I don't care if they're expensive if the work is good and gets done on time s. It costs much more in the long run to have to source people constantly.

@Agent Star: have been thinking about that for a while. I live in Boston and there's dozens of universities here. Will go place some ads for graphic design students.
