Couldn't believe my eyes at Fry's

fuck its only internal, i prefer external

External has come down in prices a lot.

I just picked up a 400 gig for $100 at best buy. You can get those bigger fuckers like 1 terabyte for the same price but I like the smaller sizes sort of like Amanda's dick.

I've seen these as low as $120. These Seagate drives have a very high failure or DOA rate. Check reviews on Newegg - 25% are 1 star.

Yeah, I had one die on me in under 5 months and dude at the store told me to stay away from Seagate at the moment.

No shit, fucking storage is getting super cheap, in another 5 years we are going to be sitting here with 4 to 5 TeraByte games and we will have like 100 or 250 terabyte harddrives in our computers........exactly how it is now but just with GigaBytes.

Anyone like me remember the old school days of the ALL NEW 40GB hard-drive, man I remember that like yesterday but in these days after you install vista and World Of Warcraft, there goes your 40GB haha.

Makes me feel old looking back, hell even looking back as far as the 90s and hearing about bill gates say "No One Will Ever Need More Then 840kb Of Storage Space"

Haha, I know.. I remember when my buddies were drooling over my 100 Mhz 486 with 4 Megs of RAM. "Whoa....dude....that setup is sick!" :D

Maybe I should pull out my commodore 64 and play some donkey kong.

Images&Words: Sounds like the first comp I legitimately got to call my own. I even had a TWO speed CD-ROM drive with a caddy, because my computer was "multimedia enabled" :D

I dunno about that man. Games these days, most of the size they take up is in the model textures and sound files.
Sound and image compression are getting better all the time, and as computers go multi-core, decompression on the fly won't be such an issue either because you'll just have a processor dedicated to decompression for any well optimised game.
The 3D models themselves are generally pretty small files, even with scripted animations.
I've installed the "ultra-realistic" texture pack for Fallout 3, and goddamn do things look a hell of a lot more realistic (as in difference level between HalfLife 1 & 2 kinda jump), but it didn't even add another 1GB to the total install size.

Vic20 3.5 kilobytes game machines. The arcade games were put together in assembly language.

Or, if you couldn't get your Dad to buy any more games, you could POKE 124,556 or PEEK 426, 945 all day until it crashed.

Yeah fallout 3 isn't really that realistic in my opinion, I was refering to the most recent games of FarCry 2 and FEAR 2, now those games are fucking insanely realistic where FEAR 2 takes up 12GB of space and FarCry 2 takes up only 4Gb of space (Or 6Gb cant remember exactly)

As where World Of Warcraft isn't that realistic just massive and is creeping up on 15 or 20GB in total size now after all the patches, ect...

Anyway I get exactly what your saying as the comps get more powerful there will always be better compression and easier ways to decompress on the fly which means smaller game sizes or does it actually just mean that the game creators won't have to worry about those things as much which will enable them to create graphic intensive games in the likes we've never even heard of before which still use up a decent amount of space.

Hard to tell but interesting to wonder about.

Also it brings me to believe that there will eventually be a graphics top-out basically once graphics get better then the human eye can see in detail then what......brain implants for a more realistic game play.
