That Weezer video with Ronald Jenkees is awesome. I've been a fan of his for a long time and I'm glad he's getting some recognition beyond YouTube. Besides his music talent, he's also a pretty smart business man. I bought his album and was impressed by how he used some open source packages to put together a pretty nice music purchase and download system. I wonder how many CDs and MP3's he has sold by self-publishing his music. I'll bet he's made twice as much as he would have made by signing with a label.
I've heard that rumor that Ronald Jenkees and it's all an act, but I don't think it's true. If you look at his YouTube archive, you can see he was playing around with stupid non-music videos for a while before he started playing stuff on the keyboard. Unless you are Andy Kaufman, it would be very unusual for someone to totally embrace a character like that for months with really no payoff. No one watched those old videos until he became known on YouTube for his music. He might be playing up the geek character a little bit, but I think it's pretty close to the way he is. People that are very talented in art or music are usually a little eccentric. I know he is from the Louisville area and he reminds me a lot of one of my friends who is also from Louisville.
