I have a good idea for a sort of informational site with a few downloads and could easily make eBooks out of what I'm thinking, but I'm wondering if doing something like CPAlead.com on the site instead of making the user buy something before having access to it..In this case they would just have to fill out a survey after trying to access the download page to download a certain program needed.

I'm thinking about providing all of the information upfront on the first page with detailed directions/videos/tutorials, and then a link to download the program, but they would first have go through CPAleads offers, which I guess are surveys, before being redirected to the download..I think this would convert better than making them buy something, although the ROI would be a little lower per conversion.

Ideas? Do you guys use CPAlead or anything similar on your sites?

I will be split testing both ideas but thought I'd get your opinions first.

If you're giving away content, I'm pretty confident asking them to fill out a survey or something would fly much better than having them whip out their credit cards for a random offer. That's just a hunch. You've answered your own question though -- split-test both. Even if someone gives you their take, results are likely very different in your vertical. It might be an unfair test if you're comparing a running a targeted CPS offer on the gateway against irrelevant offers (which are likely mobile) through CPA lead.

So rather than using CPA lead, how about this.. Rip the script and run a few lead gen offers that are a bit more tailored towards your content, then test that against a CPS on the gateway instead. Going to be getting my coders to build the content gateway script for something else, so I can shoot that over to you when done if you want.
