Some interesting things from an IM standpoint.

I am the founder of Credit Karma. Ask me anything about credit or Credit Karma. Today, we announced that we are adding Equifax to the platform. : IAmA

Read this with my morning coffee. I found the behind the scenes info on how credit reporting works to be pretty interesting. This was one of the better AMA's I've read lately.

Yep these days I use pure whitehat on long term projects. Black hat can still work on churn and burners. I pump income from churn and burn sites into extremely high quality articles, PPC ect.

A good friend of mine is the head of marketing for credit karma's main competitor (Experian)- they are beyond pissed at CK's strategy..which essentially is selling advertising on their site and giving away the free credit reports.. No fees, no credit monitoring programs... They seem to still be struggling with how to compete with them..

Calling Credit Karma a competitor of Experian is a stretch. Experian is an actual Consumer Reporting Agency (CRA), Credit Karma is not. Lenders don't report consumer credit history to Credit Karma, but they do to Experian. Your Credit Karma score means nothing to anybody.

Isn't freecreditreport.com owned by Experian? That's probably what he's talking about. All 3 consumer agencies have consumer side credit monitoring services that they sell.

Credit Karma's score is basically garbage, but it can be useful for keeping track of changes to your report and whatnot which is basically what those monitoring services do.

They all have consumer facing products under various subsidiaries so they aren't entirely not a competitor. But that would be a little bit like calling Hushmail a competitor to Google just because Google offers email too.
