Hello all....new to the forum and AM. Read through some threads for a couple hours and I must say some very unique thinkers here...very cool.

Built my first AM website. It's a coupon site.

ValueBucket.com - Coupon Codes, Discounts, Sales, Promo Codes, Brand Names!

It's been up for about 4 months now. Probably net about $300 bucks. Is this normal for a new site? Did I miss the "coupon site" boat already?

Anyway just wondering if you can give me some pointers and critique the site. Hope to be of some benefit to others later on as my AM knowledge grows.

Thanks all,

Chris

So should I abandon my coupon site and go a different route? I'm not sure what your trying to say....

If you want to stick with the site I would probably figure out which offers have made you the money so far and just feature those kinds of offers on your homepage.

For example if you're getting traffic/money from your DELL coupons then why bother with swimsuit coupons on your front page? Make it easy for the largest majority of visitors to go where they need to go.

Yahoo explorer only shows 7 inbound links to your site if you exclude links from your domain. Getting keyword rich inbound links should definitely be your next major objective.

Right now your site doesn't have enough PR/Authority to handle the amount of links you have per page. In that respect you're probably also hurting yourself because you have so many sidebar coupons that stay the same and the footprint of those coupons is larger than the amount of unique content on some pages. For example you have the same 20 coupons on each page and those coupons take up say 300 words of text. On some pages the coupons in the center only account for 50 unique words of text so the page looks like a duplicate because 90% of the overall page is duplicated on other pages with little unique content and such a large footprint.

I'd change your Home link and your header to go to the non index.php version of your homepage.

Ok sorry about that....I'm a fucking idiot

Plan:
1. More inbound links. I just started with the social networking/bookmarking sites and my traffic just about tripled.

2. Putting more keyword / phrases content on each of the individual store pages. There will be a description for each store with different content containing keywords. I was also thinking about creating 10 different variations of "Sorry there aren't any DELL coupon codes" or "DELL coupon codes are not available right now." This description will be different every time the page is loaded. I have other variations of this idea in order to have more different keyword content on each page.

3. Creating more sites that will focus on just one store. Like babyagecoupons.com and have that site pull data from the same database as the parent site. I would also add inbound links to the parent site from each of these mini-sites.

Sound good or no?

for me your website is ok. I think you only need is do a massive advertisement for this site.

you just doing organic traffic? how many visitors a day?

also i would change the design. get a good wordpress theme. these kind of sites are so much easier to run on wordpress. plus there are some great SEO plugins.

I have a freebie site: Free Samples and Freebies from Around the Web | Free Stuff Finder. I paid $200 for a custom theme at blogohblog.com.

also, if you have decent organic traffic, maybe try adsense. i make about $150 a month from free stuff finder. And i spend 10 minutes every few days. Truth is my wife does most of the posts these days...
