Cryptocurrency

Bitcoin only here. The rest are cute but have 0.00% chance of catching up to bitcoin now.

There are over 60,000 vendors that accept BTC worldwide, & some of those vendors sell millions of products. VCs and industrial hedge fund managers pour Millions of USD into building the bitcoin-specific ecosystem every single day.

Check this short new documentary out about bitcoin, put together by a VC firm for other VCs to learn about the real Bitcoin development system:

It's a truly awesome doc, it'll by eye-opening to 95% of you.

No idea if this is true, but Bloomberg did some research on this. Apparently, a total of $110 million has been invested into bitcoin via VCs, angels, etc. Hardly "millions every day".

Why Bitcoin Is the Smart Bet in Tech Investing: Video - Bloomberg

Don't get me wrong, I love bitcoin -- I just don't like all the unrealistic fanatics. You guys sound like a bunch of 12 year old girls salivating over Justin Bieber, or something. "OMG, bitcoin is just like so awesome, and is just the most amazing technology since the interwebs! We're gonna take over governments, and change how the world works, because bitcoin is just so amazing, and the best thing EVER!"

#1 - That's just Silicon valley you're talking about... Never forget that China is a bigger market.

#2 - I included hedge funds. There are 4 major ones now that I know about, 2 with over 100k coins. So that doubles the bloomberg total right there alone.

Well it fucking is though; and you're a bit blind for not realizing it yourself.

Do you disagree with the VCs and head coders in the documentary I posted above? Or are you classifying me and the other Beiberesque fanatics in a league beyond that?

I don't get why you keep bringing up the VC's lukep, venture capital by is all about high risk high reward. The truth is 99% of VC backed firms either fail or don't generate enough returns (even if it's a good company) to make up for all the bad bets, the VC model is basically throw everything that has potential up against the wall and hope that one of them becomes the next google/microsoft/apple.

I'm afraid, governments will eventually find some mean scheme against cryptocurrencies.

im convinced they have no choice if they want the status quo - and i think generally 'they' do.

quantum computing? formula for primes? btw

WTF is bitcoin hashing? I heard its solved 2 100+yr old mathematical problems so far - whats the deal with the code its cracking?

For one, please don't use the opinions of VCs to support bitcoin, because that's just dumb for a multitude of reasons. They only know the basics of bitcoin -- and it's gotten some of them excited enough to spin the wheel with it, and see where the ball lands.

As for the others, I agree that bitcoin is a great technology, but disagree with their approach and mindset. What's the opposite of "can't see the forest for the trees"? That's these guys. They have their head so far in the clouds, all they can see is a green patch, and can't make out an individual tree at all anymore.

Do you really think all these thefts, problems, slumps, and bad press was needed? Try to point that out that, and in response you get the same bullshit you constantly spew -- just some raving lecture about how amazing bitcoin is, how it's going to change the face of humanity, and the bad events were all necessary and part of the natural growth cycle, which is simply wrong.

Just imagine if a financial institution anywhere in the world acted like the Bitcoin Foundation. I can see the spokesman on TV now... "gee, sorry about that $400 million that disappeared, but you know, this is a brand new (5 year old) really kick ass payment network, and it's just the most amazing thing ever, but you know, it has some inherent security flaws. don't worry though, because I'm certain someone, somewhere will come out with some really innovative security solutions at some point in time, so please keep your money with us, because we're gonna start changing the world and toppling governments pretty soon!".

Well the problem with bitcoin is it's not mainstream at all so as soon as people hear something negative and the word "bitcoin" in the same sentence they panic. For example my grandmother actually called me when she saw the Mt Gox thing on TV and said that "the president of bitcoin has been arrested and hundreds of thousands of bitcoins have disappeared into thin air!"

Well in reality he's just the president of ONE bitcoin company, and the presidents of companies who accept fiat fuck shit up every day. Not to mention it's much easier to steal fiat than it is to steal bitcoin.

I think it just goes back to people being too stubborn/scared to actually try it out and do their research. Although I do agree that sometimes the "fanatics" actually help to decrease its appeal rather than increase it especially when someone is talking about "bitcoin will hit half a million dollars by the end of the year" and it just sounds so fucking stupid that everyone tunes out and assumes bitcoin is for losers.

Just started getting into this whole thing and bought a few bitcoins, it seems to me that if you wanna *try* make good cash out of it, day-trading of the altcoins (and maybe also bitcoin)is the way to go?

I mean, I believe in bitcoin, the thing is, I don't see it jumping off the roof again. sure it can go to 2k or a little more, but again - for making a bank that's not what im looking for. (as a long-term investment its sounds good to me)

I actually don't know wtf i'm talking about and very new to this, all i know i'm gonna drop 5k on various coins including doge, just the thought of it getting to $1 wet my panties. love da gambling

any thoughts of good coins to buy atm?

I spend / use bitcoin daily. I find myself wishing other people would take bitcoin when sending a paypal or wire. It would be much more simple. It's really no different.

It's near perfect payment system.
