I'd like to start a membership niche dating site and I was looking around for dating site software but wasn't really impressed with what's out there. I also looked at dating sites which offer private labels but none were in this particular niche.

Can anyone recommend a good looking dating site software? I'd love something which looks like Zoosk. Is there a Zoosk clone script out there available?

My friends think that "My Php Dating 2.0" is a good choice. $149.00 Only. You should try it.

I've just recently moved into starting my own dating sites instead of affiliates, and I've tested out osDate, Etano (both free), and a few Joomla based social networking scripts. I would have to say Etano is by far my favorite, it's open-source and easy as hell to mod. I've had my dating site up for a week, it already has 1410 members, about 0.3% upgrade (upgrade is necessary to send/view messages). Out of those 0.3%, about 1/3rd of them have a paypal thus create automatic monthly subscriptions at $19.99/pop.

Only few flaws I find with it:
City based searching. I might code a work-around using zip-code specific searching and having it find people within 50-250 miles of their zip code.

Not many free themes, there's 1 free theme and a few nice ones that cost $35. Could also hire a designer to create a nice one for under $100 I'm sure.

In my experience, every single out-of-the-box dating script out there is seriously flawed. Even the most expensive ones are seriously lacking in some aspects. I suggest you find the dating site you want to emulate, then get someone to write a good set of software specs for it. Then turn over those specs to the programmers. IMHO it will probably cost you thousands to get something that can compete with the best sites.

However, you can still make money with a more basic site, but count on having to convert to something more advanced as soon as you get some income from it.
