I'll admit right now. I am new to arbi and I don't really have a lot of experience with it. However, I am a developer and I try to get my hands dirty in just about everything, so I figured I would give it a shot.

Here's my first "arbi page":
Mein Kampf Info

Now, what do you think? I intentially took like 3 seconds to design it because it seems that's what most of your guys do.

How does it look? Will it convert?

Thanks,
Luke

I can't really comment on your page from an expert point of view as I am new to arbi too but some observations and a question:

I notice the first day I looked at your site the ads were all about handbags or 'purses' as I think they're called in the US and I thought the juxtaposition was amusing so I thought you were posting it as a joke, made me chuckle - Hitler with a handbag. However, now the ads are very well targeted to the subject and possibly appealing to people into the whole nazi hitler thing, they can be really fanatical collectors (not my thing though).

So my question is (because I didn't notice at the time) were the first ads from google adsense? or were they auction ads as well and it just took a few days for the keyword matching process (or whatever it's called) to kick in, or did you do something to make the ads more targetted to the content. I can't see any changes in your content and I don't know how action ads work.

The question of 'more is better' I think in this case yes - because they are live auctions and targetted and with pictures, I think the ads actually give a much better experience for the punter, something to browse through related to their interest, and quite tempting to click on.

all best

If you're using Adwords to drive traffic to this page, you should add some footer links to increase your quality score and make it appear like a page from an real website (privacy, contact, etc).

If you're new to arbi, you may want to master using adsense ads first because of the realtime feedback on click conversions and determining optimal pricepoints of your ppc bids. With auctionads you may not know for days if clicks are converting and profitable at a certain price.

I'd agree that adsense would generate more clicks for you. Your auctionads are for low priced items anyways.

I agree with dealasite as far as testing out with Adsense first to get a good grip on tracking and tweaking your ads and page for better CTR.

Btw, I thought eBay completely banned anything Hitler/nazi-related in their auction systems a couple of years ago? I remember reading a news article about it. So far, I only see Ipod ads on your site from here.

Otherwise the page looks good though. Let us know how it goes and whether you test out a change to Adsense. I recommend it.

The Hitler/Nazi ebay auctions I saw this afternoon were for stamps and coins which is still allowed, I guess they couldn't just cut out a whole slice of history for people that are in to building comprehensive collections.

Cuddly toys now!

stickycarrots;
Since you're new to arbi - try starting with some keywords/content that you can get decent ($0.30 - $0.60) CPC clicks for. Do some research on keywords and niches based on tips in previous threads here on WF.

What you started with was actually not a bad idea. The Hitler niche is a narrow niche with low competition (I would imagine), and coupling it with eBay is a great idea in theory (since there are still a lot of nazi memoribilia collectors, and even nazi believers out there). However - with Adsense on the page, you're not gonna get many Hitler/nazi-relevant ads.

So throw up another page on another niche (how about making the one you have a little more general, like "german world war ii memoribilia" or something), find a keyword that pays OK, and center your content around it. Replace your AuctionAds with Adsense for the time being - and monitor your ppc expenses, CTR, and ROI closely for a few days.

When you feel like you're getting the hang of Adsense, test out again with AuctionAds - or even better, split test both revenue streams with two pages. ;)

LOL! Your first arbi subject and you choose Hitler. I am sure you're gonna get super cheap clicks. Don't know how you'll convert this though. Adsense will pay shit for Hitler terms. And the auction ads aren't even related.

But 16,168 searches on Overture for Mein Kampf and about 50,000 total for hitler and adolf hitler. nice volume.
