He is - THE CACTUS!
My judgment on Seth Godin is somewhat ambivalent.
He's an amazing entrepreneur and has that Jon Malkovich look going for him. But on the other hand, He's amazingly good at exploiting other people's hard work and still making himself look like a good guy. I dunno, maybe that's the cynic in me, maybe I've been hanging around here too long.
Either way, he's amazingly good at what he does... which is why I was kind of shocked with my interpretation of one of his latest posts:

Seth's Blog: Get rich quick

To me, it seems like he's justifying MMO/GRQ scammers by saying that they provide a nebulous hope, in exchange for people's money. Often people that can least afford it. But they have hope, and what price can you put on that (shala la laa!)?
Does anyone else get that from this post? Or is it just me trying to find an angle that isn't there?

He's being sarcastic and giving his interpretation on why/how that business model (yes, I use that term lightly here) is able to perpetuate.

I think the focus was more on the audience and why that market even exists.

Edit: geekcognito reads/types faster than me.

from the article: "The more skeptics they generate, the better they do, because the skepticism itself is part of the story that needs to be told."

he is still a pompous egotistical prick... but the guy is also a great copywriter.... and he's not saying anything new either.. these are all basic advertising principles from even further back in time than the 3 martini lunch days....he's just able to say it in a way that is undoubtably making a lot of people reading it for the first time go "holy purple cow" (one of his first best-seller books).....he's good, oh yes he's good
