If I want to send visitors to a different CJ affiliate URL than the links provided by the merchant, is there a way to do so to ensure that the cookie is still passed?

Thanks

If they allow URL redirect, generally yes. If they have a product catalog uploaded, you can go through their current links that use URL redirection in order to get the right format. What merchant are you referring to?

As a precaution, always email the affiliate manager to make sure.

you could always make a hop page. And stuff the cookie on the way there.

Click link to affiliate -> hop page with iframed CJ link -> product dest page

Hey, I've been wondering about that question too.

I've been wondering if I use the following method,... WILL IT WORK?

<CJ tracking link>?url=<customized destination url>

Example: http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-XXXXXXX-XXXXXXXurl=http://www.cjmerchantsite.com/custompage.asp

will the cookie still pass?

Will it work for ALL CJ Merchants?
As I said before...

The only real way to make sure, is to find a link from the advertiser that states "Advertiser allows URL redirects for this link." on the "Get HTML" page. The easiest way is to open an advertiser's profile, click "Products" on the top right side, and find a product. That listing is driven by URL redirects. Pull any link from there to check their linking convention (i.e. does it append any queries to the link), and then make it from there.

As always, if you're unsure, contact the advertiser directly. I know that some advertisers don't allow URL redirects the way their system is setup (BustedTees goes through a 3rd party tracking solution in the middle, which is needed in the processs), but some are willing to set up direct links for you. Yahoo requires you to contact them (in order for them to setup a special link) so that everything tracks correctly.

Smaxor I'm actually using your affiliate redirect script right now. From here.

Excuse my coding ignorance, but could you explain how the hop page with iframe could be added to that script? Thank you

I wouldn't suggest using an iframe like that - CJ's network quality team may not like it if you're redirecting to a page that the advertiser doesn't want you to redirect to. Just use the ?url= on links that say "Advertiser allows URL redirects for this link" or contact the advertiser yourself.
