I'm doing a direct linking campaign using a method of another forum member (beejeebers). It's working fine, but I'm not converting any sales - which is not fine. Since it's a moderately priced product (30.00) and I'm using a + rep company (1800petmeds), what can I do to increase conversion? Also, how many clickthrus before I pull the plug on the campaign? the product I'm promoting isn't the cheapest CPC out there, but I think if i can get some conversion, I can get the cpc down over time.

thanks.

If you are getting 1% conversion then you are doing well.

In future I would advise you to set targets before starting the campaign and then you will know when to pull the plug wihtout getting emotionally involved.

tom,

I am getting a 4% CTR, but a 0% conversion. since I KNOW this is a popular product (flea control) and I have eliminated all other variables, the only thing I can think is that I either A: haven't given it enough time or B: I'm premature in flea season.

I guess where I'm headed here is that I am trying to decide how many click-thru's do I give it before I say the answer is not A, but B? make sense?

Before you pull the plug on a campaign you feel strongly about, always play around with your keywords, ad copy, and other related variables. If nothing is working out for you, time to to move on to another niche.

From personal experience, I usually give a campaign 500 clicks to convert. Or I ditch it.

NoelKuhl is right.

Having a high CTR doesn't mean shit if you're not targeting the right buyers. I learned that lesson the expensive way. Play around with some long tail keywords and try to target buyers, not casual browsers. For example, use BUY ONLINE NOW (or whatever) in your ad copy to avoid unwanted clicks. Your CTR will be lower but conversions should be better.
