I've been in AM for a few years now, going on and off, I've had my highs and lows. I went to college, worked for a few corps, but now I'm back at home doing AM and SEO.

I've come to the realization that as much as I love flexibility and the money, it's not something I could do for rest of my life (working at home all the time really bores me, I miss co-workers) nor could I ever stand having a corporate job again. So I thought about going to culinary school, perhaps starting a restaurant later because l like owning my own business.

Are you guys in it purely for the money or do you actually love doing this, I would like to hear some opinions from AMs that's been in the industry for a few years because the beginning is always fun especially when you're doing well money-wise.

I love the creativity. Also, I like that every day is different. If I want to push berries I can, or I can go and find something else to market. Once it gets boring I'll do something else.

As for being bored at home, it does suck not having co-workers, but I have a lot of friends that work from home. We get lunch a few times a week, and hang out at night.

Everyone should love what they do so if you don't then change careers. Mind you I think you are insane for leaving the money and freedom you get in AM to work in the restaurant business where you will make less money, work long hours and holidays and deal with all kinds of bullshit and stress but to each their own.

I love affiliate marketing for the challenge it presents to me. I love abusing systems, breaking rules and thinking out of the box.
I mainly need SEO knowledge because my business is based on online orders, so the huge amounts of time and money I pour into SEO naturally slip into affiliate projects.
But yes, spending all your day on a PC is not worth it, so we definitely need hobbies and excuses to get out more. There is no point in making money if you can't spend them on something that pleases you.

Hell No!

However its got to be better than working for a company.

I have been repeatedly f&*ked over my whole life by employers. Although miss looking at office women and banter lol.

I think you have to use it as a vehicle to make your life better if you can make money out of it at all.

I like others struggle from working online / at home because of distractions.

Still could be worse...

I absolutely love it with a passion. I'm not an AM superstar or anything yet but I love doing it and I'm making some nice part-time income from it.

I'm "all in" now. I lost my job last month...50% due to the mortgage/job market and 50% due to me dicking around with AM most of the day anyway.

My wife is pushing me to get a j-o-b so I'm keeping up appearances but I've got three kids and I am GOING to make this work.

Besides, I love a challenge.

I love it when I'm making money,

I was in sales, I like the fact that people come to me and I don't have to go chase them.

Wage serfdom is the worse. I hated how every job I have ever had the boss made me feel like he was doing me a favor by hiring and would take full advantage by working my ass off, yet when it was time for a raise "now isn't a great time." routine.

The only way to get a good raise is to find another job... or forget the rat race and make money on your own freelancing or AM. Nothing beats having multiple streams of income and being able to choose who you work with and on what!

Do I love AM?

YES

I am fascinated with the whole thing: site building, ad copy, seo, roi calculations, keyword research...

If I didn't, I would hav e given up a while ago...

Sorry to hear that Chris, but I'm sure it was a blessing in disguise :)

I need to get out of my shit job too. My balls aren't big enough to quit quite yet (even though I'm making about the same doing IM). The 2 young kids thing (with wife on mat leave) doesn't really help in that dept.

But I love AM too. I'm always up for a challenge, especially when all the hard work is put into my pockets and not someone else's.

I have a J-O-B and I can't imagine anything sucking more ass. I'm going to quit and go balls out on AM and see where it takes me. I'm a noob, but I've never failed at anything I've set my mind to. I've been a successful professional poker player and have a masters degree in a very desirable field. I also have a year's salary saved. If it takes more than that, it's not going to happen.

Some would call me a fool, right?

Nope. Actually, a couple of us part-timers should put our heads together. I was fortunate to start my 401K at age 21 so I can coast along jobless for a while, not that it's going to take that long.

Let's make it happen.

not a fool, dude. You are responsible yet believe in yourself.. may the force be with you..

I hope you've worked in a restaurant before... It's not as glamorous as Anthony Bourdain and Top Chef make it seem. Get ready to deal with a truck load of bullshit and drama. Restaurant employs are a different bread than most other jobs ;)
