So based on some rumors I heard here I decided to test out the openx marketplace. I figured the 1k required deposit would keep most noobs out and that it would be a fairly uncluttered marketplace. DO NOT TRY THIS. it has been a complete nightmare. I know its in beta and its a test self serve platform but it has been the worst experience I have ever had in ad buying.

First off, it was hard to get in contact with anyone there. They are slow responding to any contact or emails. my contact there was someone named kristen carter. She appeared to know nothing about how the technical process of ad serving worked. When we were talking on the phone (which i had to wait a week to actually get a phone number to get in contact with her) she was confused by what an ad tag was. She referred me to their technical department and they were all confused by my questions about how to track which sites were converting. Based on their current setup and the information they gave me, they have no way to tell which sites are converting and which sites are not. The only information they can give you is a list (by domain no less) of which sites your ads have displayed on and how many impressions have displayed there. For those of you who have any experience media buying, you never get a list of what domain you displayed on since any smart affiliate will just go buy direct from that traffic source and cut out the middle man if the traffics good. If your wondering, most of their traffic comes from tagged.com and datpiff.com.

Now here is the one good thing I have to say about OpenX marketplace. they have net 30 terms as soon as you put down the 1k deposit. I did not read the terms and conditions carefully and just put down the deposit. It ran through an extra 1200 before I logged back in to pause the campaigns permanently since the traffic quality sucked (seriously it was going to a mobile offer and the advertiser complained about lead quality.... on a mobile offer. thats really really really bad traffic). Today they sent me a bill for an overdue invoice saying i owed them 2200. Ill pay the 1200 I owe but they are literally so retarded over there that they forgot to subtract the initial 1k I paid them. I would call them to discuss this but they don't have a phone number you can contact them on.

Oh and they don't know what frequency capping is.

Worst. Traffic source. ever.

Not bad, took me 1 month to get a hold of Kristen and I am still waiting for a reply to an email I sent 1 week ago.

I had an equally bad experience with OpenX. I deposited $1K but after only $100 I determined that the traffic was not usable for us. The biggest problem is that the reporting is terrible and not in real time. Reports are generated only once a day.

The other big problem is with the interface and reporting you have no idea which traffic is working and which isn't. Those 2 flaws make it extremely difficult to optimize a campaign.

The OpenX marketplace is still in beta but currently it's definitely NOT ready for prime time.

haha defelice maybe it is maybe it isnt....

naw this aint like the old POF thread where everyone complained cuz they were trying to keep noobs off haha. openx sucks for real. if you don't believe me, go try it. let me know when your head starts hurting from banging it agains the wall from their stupidity.

Translation:

I'm making a shit ton of money on openx marketplace. Please don't come and drive up my costs.

haha if you want to go and test it go for it. good luck getting in contact with someone there. please bump this thread later in the week/month when you have still not heard back from them about your account. good luck!
