8 Minute Meditation
Quiet Your Mind. Change Your Life.

Great if you want to skip all the spiritual/mystical mumbo jumbo and just get straight to basic meditation exercises. You'll be meditating within 10 minutes of reading the book.

If it weren't for meditation I'd probably go on a random killing spree at least 3 times a day. Seriously cures frustration, angst, and anxiety.

The same techniques cured my insomnia too. When I go to bed at night my brain is still running 1000 miles a minute. Instead of focusing on breathing I focus on counting to 100. As soon as my mind strays from counting I start back over at 1. Needless to say I never make it to 100. I either fall asleep or start over. Sometimes it takes several cycles of counting and starting over but it works every time. No meds. No cough syrup, no melatonin needed.

Why does everything have to be about productivity? If you can't mediate JUST to meditate, you'll never benefit from it.

A 2006 qualitative study followed the effects of one year of
Transcendental Meditation™ (during the first and last 10 minutes of each school day) on
ten middle school students. Themes that emerged from individual interviews with
students included a greater ability at self-control and improved social relationships, as
well as better academic performance.
