Fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun

But, this time no public keyword. If you aint in you don't get the keyword.

We don't need thousands in damage over an epeen measuring contest.

Did someone say dogs?

how bout we all rank for payday loans and to really make it fun you have to have Matt Cutts appear in the site description to qualify.

- Pick an obscure niche
- Whoever shows up #1 according to RankCheckerAce.com by a set date wins
- Same rules as Dog Snuggie 1.0 (brand new domains - rank however you can)

Prize(s):
- To be determined

Thoughts? Anyone interested?

If there's a contest, I'd say:

  1. Keep the keyword private. Only entrants get the keyword.
  2. Scores are based on what shows up in RankCheckerAce.com each day, and are weighted towards the top (to mimic CTR). You get 100 points for #1, 50 points for #2, 25 points for #3, 15 points for #4, 10 points for #5, 5 points for #6, 4 points for #7, 3 points for #8, 2 points for #9, 1 point for #10 for every day you manage to do it in the given month, based on the time that RCA does a check (so the point that shows up on the graph for each day).
  3. Pick a completely obscure keyword, like I dunno... red tarantula fangs, so that there's unlikely to be manual reviews, keyword specific updates, past stuff monitored due to previous contests (e.g. blogposts done on moz about dog snuggie spam re-appearing..) yada yada affecting results.

I think that works better than having a 1 day cut off, as potentially someone can rank for the duration of the contest, lose the day before the cut off and not get any credit for it. Likewise people could just blast the shit out of a load of sites a few days before the end of the contest and get at least one to stick #1 or whatever. I think testing for how long proportionally you can get good rankings is a better test, and more reflective of how good someone is at SEO.

Whatever the niche it should be one where we can take real money out of someones pocket. Really disrupt the niche. If by chance it's one that a contestant is in, he simply PM's the contest admin and we move down the list. Make it obscure enough and it shouldn't be a problem. But good enough where there is still real money involved.

^agreed

My 2 cents is nothing public. We don't need anything else getting outed.

And move this to another section that can't be indexed early.
