So I`m looking for someone to code an entire website or modify an existing script as per my requirements ....
If you feel you`re up for it and have a decent portfolio PM me and we can discuss further.

P.S.: greedy fuckers need not apply!

You might want to head over to DP for some cheap, "skilled" coders.

not looking for cheap coders ... I`m looking for professionals that dont charge 3 times the normal price ... I`d say this job can be done with 3-4k
I`m not looking for big companies ... just a talented someone that knows what he`s doing.

Professional coders ideally charge 16 times the normal price...its coz they are just that good.

So how much per hour are you looking for? Whenever I see "professionals" and "don't charge X times the normal price" or anything like that effect in the same sentence I usually equate it to you're on a shoestring for what you want done.

I`m not looking to pay someone per hour. I will pay for the entire project. Already spoke to a couple of guys and they charge 4-5k.
Project is a membership site. Its nothing too complicated and nothing new in the niche. I know what I want done and because the site can be based on an existing script I dont expect to pay 20k for the job.
The guy I will eventually hire will probably have to fly over in my country for the duration of the project. (of course all expenses paid)

I meant what amount per hour would this end up being? In other words if you will pay $3000 for the contract but it would take "80 hours" (from estimates you're getting, etc) - then it's $37.50/hour.

Though with talking about travel and shit that's a whole other animal. Required travel with 2-3K on the contract is a little ... weird. Though hey, free travel for someone looking for a vacation isn't necessarily a bad thing. :)

Happened to me before. Client bought a $800 piece of software, a week later calls me up, "you know, I hate talking over e-mail and the phone. how about I just fly you down here, and you can show me how to use this damn thing?". And sure enough, he did, several times. Put me up in nice hotels, took me out to nice restaraunts, strip clubs, etc.

Wish I could say it was good, but I'd by lying. Was intense, if anything. Him and his colleagues would get together with me in the morning to review the system, and they'd just shoot out suggestions, "yeah, that sounds good, do that", all the while "that" is like 6 hours of straight work. Every morning they'd generally load me up with about 35 hours of work, and expect it done the next morning, plus I have to let the client take me out to dinner, etc.

Ahhh... the old days... Stressful, but good pay.

I'm in the UK if you are looking for someone from Europe to do this. I'm happy to work at your location providing you cover my travel and accommodation expenses.

You mentioned that you have already found people who will do the project for 4-5k so I guess you are looking to pay less than that. Send me details and I will see what price would be reasonable. It might even be a lower quote.

As a rough guideline, for $4k you are probably looking at 2 weeks of my time. 3 weeks maximum.

PM me.

.Are the quotes you are comparing it too from Odesk?

A good programmer that will build you something quality, extendable, and that you can properly communicate your idea into software costs a shit load more than just someone that can code exactly what you tell them (Which is generally not what you 'need' or wanted).

Good luck on the project.

This exactly, particularly "that [the programmer] can properly communicate your idea into software".
