Is the ".wordpress" a turn off for audiences via a landing page?

Just now beginning to push campaigns and split test direct vs LP
so I want to know if its okay to use that or should I just spend the
extra $ for a domain.com because its a 100% for sure thing that it will help?

It's a tough choice, WP.com is free but a domain and dollar a month hosting is what, a dollar a month...

Normally I'd suggest a/b testing anything to do with conversion but being as you'll be in for at least a buck a 12th I'd say bail.

In almost all cases I'd say yes it's a turn off and just a bad idea. A free .wordpress.com blog will look unprofessional, lack flexibility and options, and be deleted at any moment when they see it's a landing page and not a real blog. That said, if you have the right product/market and the right pitch, that "hey I'm just an average dude who made this free blog in the community just like you and I'm selling you this product but you don't realize it yet" style could work.

Thanks for the replies, I'm just going to go ahead and pay the extra $ a month, no reason not too.

I agree with Elvis. Buy your domain and then setup a free xxxxxx.wordpress.com site explaining about your product and how its super awesome and everyone should buy it. The more links the better. Don't just promote from one source.
