Don't laugh at me!!! Server Problems.

You're not going to be managing your own server with a vanilla install in a few days -- installing & configuring Nginx, mySQL, PHP / Python, maybe Perl, DNS, Postfix / Sendmail, locking it down, etc. You're in for a nightmare if you go at it on your own.

Just get cPanel.

A couple others I've found :

zpanel ZPanel | The free web hosting panel
*free/opensource
*very similar in look to cpanel
*doesn't have a default file manager built-in.. But can be easily fixed by 3rd party plugin
*has had issues with exploits in older versions.
*very lightweight 90-97 mb memory usage installed.

webuzo Webuzo
*developed by softacalous
* free version, with minimal software installation (ie. softacalous lite)
* paid version with 300+ apps (softacalous full)
