Drinkers: Let's discuss alcohol

You have to ask yourself: why do I need to get hammered in a bar? There's always a reason, usually social anxiety. We don't drink alcohol for the taste of it, no one does, even those that try to convince themselves that they do. A banana-strawberry smoothie tastes much better than a shot of tequila.

If your experience of drinking is limited to cheap tequila and that industrial piss-water that passes for american "beer", I can understand why you think that.

And if we all drink for the buzz... why is it that wine connoisseurs spit the wine out when tasting?

I'm not much of a scotch guy, but do love bourbon. I second the Maker's Mark and Knob Creek suggestions someone mentioned above. If you try Maker's and like it, they make a nicer bottle called Maker's 46- good shit.

Also, I recommend these (or any whiskey stones): ThinkGeek :: Whiskey Stones

Yeah you keep telling yourself that. If it had 0% alcohol you'd quickly move to something else.

I agree that some alcohols taste better than others, but the fact is: we all drink for the buzz.

Yea sure, if you're 12.

lol oh lord! No point arguing with some of you. Honestly though if I had a magic wand I'd turn all your drinks into 0% alcohol, and see if you keep buying them bottles after that. I bet y'all would go grab a coke, a ginger ale or even a coffee instead. ... but till then, keep downing those shots of the finest tequila you can find, while convincing yourself that you're doing it for the awesome taste!

No, no, no.

Scotch is correctly drunk at room temperature, with a little Scottish springwater to dilute.

Chilling it closes the flavour off by reducing the evaporation of the aromatics. Drinking neat anethetises the palette.

Being from Kentucky, I guess I have a different perception of Bourbon.

Anyone saying Makers or Jack Dan. hasn't had good Bourbon. Im talking real single barrel or small batch ones; ones that are so smooth, sweet, and aromatic .

If I were to give you my preference for Bourbon:

1. Basil Hayden's
2. A. H. Hirsch Reserve
3. Bookers
4. Parker's Heritage Collection
5. Blanton's Original Single Barrel
6. Pappy Van Winkle's

To sip: goldschlager

To get shit faced: Buckfast

My gay drink: Baileys smoothie. Lots of ice, 3/4 pint of Baileys, scoop if ice cream and blend.

When I was younger I used to drink margarita's and Smirinoff (not the hard stuff) just the sweet kind. They say these are drinks for women but men can enjoy them too although both are usually overly sweet.

Anybody tap some Christmas Ale yet? I had about 3 of them a couple weeks ago and felt pretty good. I didn't realize how much alcohol was in that shit. It was pretty tasty though. Great Lakes ftw.

You have to try any of Stone Brewing Co's beer's and they will definitely change your opinion on American breweries. Budweiser, Coors = complete shit. You'll only get the good beer from the craft breweries that care about making high quality brews.
