I know we have some aggressive attitude people here and it can lead to aggressive driving, so going to post. Just had a really bad car accident today, people brake checking due to rain etc, car totaled, airbags deployed, rear ended a car with children. As far as we know all are ok, myself and girlfriend are ok just super sore, a seatbelt rash, girlfriend bloodied up since the airbag busted her lip pretty badly.

We got lucky. Seatbelt honestly saved us, IMO if you don't want to wear your belt that's up to you and shouldnt be a law, but you're an idiot if you don't wear it.

Damn, glad to hear you're ok man.

Thanks, we're shaken up as fuck of course. Both cars are totaled it appears, I got cited for "following too close", apparently they give that ticket for all rear end collisions.

I don't even remember all of it, not even the impact. Girlfriend screaming after and smell of the airbag after being deployed were the things I can remember, then trying to force out of the car since my door was jammed.

Empathy, been in 3 accidents, car got totaled in one of them. People wonder why I hate driving so much.

I never even had dinged a car in a parking lot, then this. Still have yet to shower and get the blood off, bit freaked out and needed to say it is all. It sucks, god.

Yeah I used to work in car rental, and I've seen/heard some pretty bad accident stories. Money can always fix/buy cars, but you can never buy a life back. That's why safety rating is my number 1 criteria when getting a car. And as papajohn said, if you don't want to wear a seatbelt, then it's your own fucking loss.

@papajohn - Hopefully your insurance policy will take care of all the medical/vehicle replacement costs. Take it easy for a few days man, and I hope your injuries heal quickly.

Bummer car accidents sukkk glad you guys are ok, I always been wearing mine. I got bad shoulder due to an accident when I was in high school. I was the passenger :/ but seatbelt saved me :)

Glad to hear you're OK, I've been in like 9+ car accidents and 1 Motorcycle crash (Only 2 crashes I was driving, one car and the motorcycle accident) and it fucking sucks, I've fractured ribs, broke my hand, my leg in 3 places. shit sucks and no matter how hard the crash, you're gonna be sore for a few days.

Rest up and feel better <3

The brake checking shit at high speeds is dangerous as it is, and the rain makes it much worse. Stay up PJ, glad everyone is alright.

Dude that's rough.

Just found out that a high school classmate of mine died in a high sped boating accident this month. Pretty crazy life this can be, sometimes.

got a seatbelt ticket recently... been in the habit of putting the belt on after the 1st block. it was the first ticket i got where i thought, yep, that'll help reinforce a smart behavior. can't complain.

Wow, reading your posts gave me deja vu. Almost the exact same thing happened to me years ago. Rear-ender, totalled car, seat belt burn, kids in my car, and a ticket for me at the end.

I know exactly how you feel and my thoughts go out to you, your girlfriend and the family in the front of you. I'm happy to hear everyone appears to be unhurt.

I don't know if you've driven since, but the first time I got behind the wheel after the accident, I was freaked out thinking it was going to happen again. It did make me a safer driver in the long run, though.

did you get a checkup from some doctor?
a friend of mine was in a comparable accident and felt perfect, only to find out he was totally fucked up later (spinal stuff)

^ This.

If you haven't gotten a checkup yet, go do it. Sometimes internal injuries won't really have any immediate symptoms. And, glad you're OK man. I've been in a few accidents myself. Scary stuff.

Glad you and your girl are relatively unscathed. Update us when you get the checkup done.

Personally, I’ll be happy when cars can drive themselves. Human error is a bitch. Too bad we have to plug into another layer of the matrix to make it happen.
