so im going to get a new phone and now that droid has been out for awhile i was just wondering what you're thoughts/recommendations are on these two phones.

droid or BB tour? or any other recommended smart phones(must have email, good browser)

Having tried both I'll give you the advantages of both:

Droid:

Much better web browser, more and better apps, bigger screen, touchscreen + keyboard combo.

Blackberry tour:

MUCH longer batter life (mine lasts 3-4 days with heavy use and no charging with my extended battery). MUCH lighter, smaller. Keyboard is much better. Much easier to use email, contacts. Has Blackberry Messenger which is awesome.

Droid is good if you want an iPhone alternative, but anyone who has used both a blackberry and an iPhone knows that the iPhones aren't shit when it comes to doing any sort of business or staying organized.

Get the blackberry if you're over the age of 16

If you're on Verizon, wait until March 23rd and get the Nexus One. The Droid keyboard isn't good enough to make it useful and the screen on both the Droid and Nexus make landscape typing pretty easy/enjoyable. But you'll be happy with either - both are awesome.

BlackBerry keyboards and proven Microsoft Exchange support are about the only thing RIM has going for it. The people clinging to the Berry can't rid themselves of the brainwashed boost the brand got in 90s rap songs. In many ways it's the "what your familiar with" thing - many reasons Mac/Windows users stick with what they've always used.

Seriously though, when it comes to innovation, Android and iPhone are moving forward while BlackBerries are looking more and more like today's version of the typewriter. The OS is old, outdated, clunky and heading towards PalmOS/WinMo territory. They need a complete rewrite like WebOS/Windows-Phone-7 or the Crackberries sucking from their teet are about to be force fed powdered milk.

I understand that BBs are good for business applications and such but android can be adapted for anything. It's much more versatile. It can be a blackberry replacement for a professional and it can be a media center for some teens

I haven't charged my blackberry battery since friday night.

Same here, but I've got the BlackBerry Bold 9700. It's by far the best BlackBerry/phone I've had... battery life, screen, messaging, browser, even the camera is decent (which is rare for a BB). I've never had a Tour... but I think they're pretty similar, the Bold is just a bit smaller.

Ps. The Bold 9000 might be the worst phone ever made. I have three of them, they all suck equally... drop 80% of calls, battery lasts for a couple hours, they freeze up a few times a day and talking on them feels a lot like holding a hot brick against your face.

Pss. If you want a Bold 9000, I'll hook you up. :smilie_weihn_winki:

Sorry but they don't have that for Verizon. The marginal advantages of that phone over the Tour aren't even close to being worth the switch to a shit network like at+t or tmobile

I have had the blackberry tour for about 5 months. Had the storm before that. One of my employees has the Droid. He likes the droid but he is big into pictures and videos and facebook stuff, and internet. I almost strictly use my tour for business. In fact i got rid of my storm went and dropped 4 bills on a tour because i couldn't stand all the crap the storm did, it was nice the features but made the phone run slow and harder to operate for stricly business use. The tour is great if you are like me and....
1) alot of text and email as well as some mms
2) use 2500+ minutes a month (battery life is incredible)
3) don't care about the other shit as far as games, big screens, apps etc.

Basically the Tour is a business phone, with some fun features. The droid is a high school girls phone.

Congratulations - you are dumb. Check the latest AdMob Report and you'll see 73% of Android users are Male and 76% are over age 25.

There is a reason BlackBerry wasn't included in the report - the platform is a has-been and doing simple tasks, like web browsing, are so poor they make you feel Amish.

Google runs the web. Your business is the web. 1+1=2

thanks for the recommendations guys. since both are on verizon im going to go into the store and check out the phones physically. from what i hear from you guys im leaning more towards the droid. thanks nicky for the informative post.
