I want to set up dual monitors on my desktop but the current 22" monitor I use is no longer in production so I either have to get a different model / brand 22" monitor, or just buy 2 new & matching 22" monitors.

For those of you who use dual monitors, are the graphics and colors significantly off if the 2 monitors used are not the same brand and model? Is it usually recommended to go with the same model?

If you want to be cute, buy matching. If you care less about cute and just want to run duals, buy one. In all likelihood you will not be doing anything that spreads across both monitors and requires color matching anyway.

The better the video card, the better the output, currently my colors are a bit off, but I could care less. I don't do big time gaming and I'm not doing any animation currently.

For my needs, all gfx apps get most attention on one screen, YMMV.

Check with the manufacturer of your current model and find the new version, then compare color and other specs. It's resoultion, DPI, etc that you want to check for.

EDIT:Why duals? Why not one 30-incher?

my two monitors are night and day.... one monster CRT and another LCD... For some reason, when it comes to reading (actual reading, not skimming) I can do it better on the CRT.

I've seen the color be off even between two monitors of the same brand (with the same settings). If you are doing something where color is important (design) then opt for high quality matching monitors.

Depends on the graphics card you have and monitors. I have two Samsung LCD 22" matching displays. I bought a dual dvi graphics card for about $200 about 14 months ago and have each monitor connected by DVI.

If you want perfection buy matching displays and dual dvi graphics card.
